ADAC GT Masters·14.9.2012

Comments after qualifying: Friday's top three: Alessi, Lunardi and Martin

Diego Alessi (#28 Callaway Competition Corvette Z06.R GT3), pole position for Race 1:

"My lap was almost perfect - there was only one hitch when a Mercedes ahead of me didn't move over fast enough. The car has a good balance, so now we have to see what we can get out of the two races."

Daniel Keilwitz (#28 Callaway Competition-Corvette Z06.R GT3), second on grid for Race 2:

"Fortunately, I went out right at the start of the session, otherwise it could have been tight in the drizzly conditions. My lap was good. If it hadn't started raining, I reckon I could still have challenged for pole - that was always on the cards today anyway."

Maxime Martin (#1 ALPINA-BMW ALPINA B6 GT3), pole position for Race 2:

"My lap was perfect. With my pole and Dino's P2, we have an excellent platform for the weekend. But now, of course, we have to make it happen in the two races."

Dino Lunardi (#1 ALPINA-BMW ALPINA B6 GT3), second on grid for Race 2:

"We're back in contention. The first step was the strong result in qualifying. Now we have to make the most of that in the races. The two starts will certainly be very exciting, because the Corvette is faster on the straights. It will be an exciting sprint to the first corner."

Fredy Barth (#14 MRS GT-Racing-McLaren MP4-12C GT3): P26 for Race 1:

"The car actually felt pretty good and my lap wasn't all that bad, but the timing was all wrong. My team-mate Rob Bell was only marginally faster in the second session but still couldn't qualify better. We suspect that we have some power loss and we now need to check the car out carefully."

Christian Engelhart (#36 Team Geyer & Weinig EDV / Schütz Motorsport-Porsche 911 GT3 R), P11 for Race 1:

"My lap was perfect, and given the high success ballast we have to carry this weekend, it was the maximum that was achievable."

Nick Tandy (#36 Team Geyer & Weinig EDV / Schütz Motorsport-Porsche 911 GT3 R), P27 for Race 2:

"When I was on my hot lap, a Mercedes ahead of me had a burst radiator. The fluid leak made the track quite slippery for the next two laps, which meant I wasn't able to post a fast time. Then it started to rain then, so obviously that was that."

Kristian Poulsen (#33 Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3), P18 for Race 1:

"In qualifying, the car was so much better than in free practice. I was immediately two seconds faster, so I'm satisfied with that."
