ADAC GT Masters·1.10.2012

Comments after the race: Reactions after the last race of the 2012 ADAC GT Masters season

Sebastian Asch (# 5 kfzteile24 MS RACING - Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), winner and 2012 ADAC GT Masters champion:

"It was extremely tight at the start - I couldn't bear to watch the first few laps on the screen. When I took over from Maxi, I was behind Dolenc and was clearly faster. He very fairly left me room to pass going into the hairpin. All I had to do then was bring the car safely across the finish line, but those last fifteen minutes were the most difficult I have experienced in my entire motor racing career."

Maximilian Götz (# 5 kfzteile24 MS RACING - Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), winner and 2012 ADAC GT Masters champion:

"I was tailing Ragginger from the off; I managed to stay close and pull out a gap on the pursuing bunch. All we could do was go for the win - the rest was out of our hands. I still can't quite believe that we've actually won the title - it will take a while for that to sink in."

Daniel Keilwitz (# 28 Callaway Competition - Corvette Z06.R GT3), ninth and championship runner-up:

"The car was difficult to drive compared to yesterday and was sliding about a lot. I wasn't able to push forward, and we were losing time on every lap. Diego caught up superbly in the second stint but unfortunately got involved in an incident when he tried to overtake the Porsche."

Diego Alessi (# 28 Callaway Competition - Corvette Z06.R GT3), ninth and championship runner-up:

"We had two problems in the race today, one of them in my stint. I had a lot of oversteer, which I found very surprising, so I had to go slow on the first few laps. The car didn't have good balance. Perhaps that was due to the fact that we were allowed to unload some success ballast for today's race. Then I got into that scrap with Dolenc. First he left open the door wide for me, then he suddenly pulled across. That's when we had our bump, which wasn't part of the master plan."

Dominik Baumann (# 8 HEICO Motorsport - Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3). Second:

"I'm very happy with second place which came as a total surprise - we certainly weren't expecting such a good result. Our car was much better than yesterday. I got off to a good start and then just concentrated on avoiding the kerbs. I handed the car over in eighth position. Hari then went on to convert this into a P2. Second place is the best result of the season for the whole team."

Alexandros Margaritis (#10 SCHÖNER WOHNEN Polarweiss - Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3), fifth:

"Two P5 finishes are a very satisfactory way to round off the season. You have to work hard to cross the line in fifth position after starting from 20th. And to do that, we didn't have to rely on retirements by other drivers. At the end of the day, though, I'm fairly disappointed by the season as a whole because, as we have seen, our car is essentially capable of so much more. I feel we didn't succeed in getting the performance out of the car."

Kristian Poulsen (#33 Young Driver AMR - Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3), winner in amateur classification:

"After spinning off the track on Saturday, I feel like I've just gone ten rounds against Mike Tyson in the ring. I had a good race, but I feel sore all over."

Toni Seiler (# 18 Callaway Competition - Corvette Z06.R GT3), runner-up in amateur classification:

"I had a bit of a problem with the throttle, which almost certainly cost me victory in the amateurs today."

Christoffer Nygaard (#33 Young Driver AMR - Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3), eleventh:

"I had a good start, but then I had oversteer problems and was unable to keep up with the rest. I had suspected that we would struggle with our lack of straight line speed, but it was much worse than I had expected."

Maxime Martin (# 1 ALPINA - BMW ALPINA B6 GT3), tenth:

"On the first lap, there was a crash ahead of me. My car also sustained some damage, and after that, it was difficult to drive. We were nowhere territory today anyway and really didn't have a chance."

René Bourdeaux (#26 Team GT3 Kasko - Porsche 911 GT3 R), third in amateur classification:

"I had a relatively simple task after some great preparatory work by Alfred. I was soon posting decent lap times and got into a steady rhythm. Towards the end of the race, I just focused on conserving the tyres."
