Comments from practice: Drivers comment on the two Nürburgring practice sessions

Christian Mamerow (#40 Mamerow Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra): "The car felt good in the wet in both sessions, so we're happy for the moment. Well yes, it did get a little drier the second time out, but the track was even more slippery than before and consequently not as fast as in first practice."

Niclas Kentenich (#6 Farnbacher ESET Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R): "Our new Porsche looks good and has also been quick so far. We've had little opportunity for any initial testing, though, and so we're just getting a feel for the car, but it's all looking very positive."

Maximilian Mayer (#42 SMS Seyffarth Motorsport, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3): "I was struggling with a bit of oversteer, and the traction control was working overtime under hard acceleration. There's still some way to go. However, it appears that qualifying will be run in the dry, so then again, conditions will be completely different."

Charlie Geipel (#35 YACO Racing powered by Jochen Schweizer, Chevrolet Camaro GT): "There was plenty of rubber on the track left behind by the trucks and it was extremely slippery this morning. We would certainly have been the fastest on the third sector in the dry, but nevertheless, we found it very tough in these conditions."

Johannes Stuck (#32 Young Driver AMR, Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3): "Unfortunately, we had a water hose let go just before the start of the second session and so we didn't set a timed lap. Hopefully, we'll be back in action for the quali."

Christian Engelhart (#36 Team Geyer & Weinig/Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R): "We had a gearbox fail in first practice. Our mechanics were brilliant and changed it very quickly, but we were still left very pushed for time. We posted three laps during the second session to check that everything works properly, but we now have to tackle qualifying with only a limited amount of practice."

Jeroen den Boer (#41 DB Motorsport, BMW Z4 GT3): "There's no grip and the short circuit layout doesn't help. No fast turns for us to get our teeth into! I think we're in for a very tough weekend."

Michael Schulze (#31 Schulze Motorsport, Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3): "We've got no traction and we don't really understand the cause. We're losing as much as ten metres to the opposition as we accelerate away from the Mercedes Arena. We need to try a different setup for qualifying."

Maximilian Götz (#5 kfzteile24 MS RACING Team, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3): "We did well in first practice, but we experimented with a bit of tweaking for the second session and so our time probably does not fully reflect what we can achieve. We're going to change setup again and are looking for a top-five finish in both qualifying sessions."

Alexandros Margaritis (#10 SCHÖNER WOHNEN Polarweiss Team HEICO, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3): "There's an enormous amount of truck rubber covering the track and right across its entire width, since the race trucks take a different line to us. That's making it very difficult for us all, especially in this wet weather, because the track is so very slippery. We were OK when the circuit was really wet, but I'm afraid that qualifying will be just a game of chance in these conditions."
