ADAC GT Masters·29.9.2012

Comments on the penultimate race: Reactions from the paddock after the race

Dominik Schwager (#20 Schubert Motorsport, BMW Z4 GT3), winner: "I kept up the pressure on the Porsche, but it's practically impossible to overtake a Porsche. We've been beaten a few times this season without showing our full potential and have also had quite a bit of bad luck, but this win and the points will do the team a lot of good."

Claudia Hürtgen (# 20 Schubert Motorsport, BMW Z4 GT3), winner: "Hockenheim is a track where I have always been fast. I tried to conserve the tyres from the start and to steer clear of the kerbs - I recognised early on that this would be the key to victory today. We have almost always had a very competitive car this season, so I am delighted that we have finally managed to notch up our first victory at last."

Robert Renauer (# 29 FROGREEN CO2 neutral, Porsche 911 GT3), P2: "I had a bit of a scrap at the start, but after that, there didn't seem to be much relative change in position. Nicolas drove a solid second stint. We reacted immediately after some of the other drivers sustained punctures, and we kept away from the kerbs to protect our tyres."

Florian Stoll (#4 kfzteile24 MS RACING Team, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3), P3: "Plenty of cars around me on the first and second corners after the start were making contact, but our car didn't suffer too much and kept running well. I handed over to Daniel when I was running sixth or seventh. The tyre damage sustained by the opposition promoted us up the field."

Daniel Dobitsch (# 4 kfzteile24 MS RACING Team, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), P3: "Because of all the contact at the start, the car wasn't the same in the second stint as it had been on the grid, but all the same, it was still good to go. I then tried to manage the lead over our pursuers as best I could."

Hari Proczyk (# 8 HEICO Motorsport, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3), P4: "It wasn't easy at first, because we had played safe with the tyre pressures I was off the pace during the first four or five laps and lost a lot of places, but then after that, things kept improving. I followed Patrick Simon's advice to stay away from the kerbs, which stood us in good stead over the distance."

Diego Alessi (# 28 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), DNF: "It's not become any easier for us after today's race, but at least we have a chance to continue to fight for the title. Anything else would mean a really miserable end to an otherwise fine season."

Maximilian Götz (# 5 kfzteile24 MS RACING team Mercedes, Benz SLS AMG GT3), DNF: "The car started to become a little skittish under braking and then I got a puncture. Tomorrow's finale is going to be so exciting after this race."

Swen Dolenc (# 15 FACH AUTO TECH, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P6 and winner in the amateur category: "I am very happy, I am just so relieved. I've generally got pretty strong nerves, but I had very restless sleep last night. My start was great, I was 19th on the grid but had gone up into P13 after the first lap and subsequently moved even further up the field. Martin again drove a strong race in the second stint."

Remo Lips (# 17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), second in the amateur category: "I have finally made it onto the podium for the amateurs. We've had a lot of good races this season, but now we've finally gone and done it. I took a few knocks at the start, but then had a very good race subsequently."

Carsten Tilke (# 22 Prosperia uhc speed, Audi R8 LMS ultra), third in the amateur category: "It's about time! I'm finally back on the podium! But it wasn't an easy race, because we got a drive-through penalty because I was a little too quick during a yellow flag period. Christian Abt put in a sensational second stint and was overtook the Porsche in third place on the final lap."

René Bourdeaux (# 25 Team GT3 Kasko, Porsche 911 GT3), fourth in the amateur category: "Our Porsche was in third place in the amateur stakes until the very last lap when Alfred had misfires and had to go onto reserve. He pressed the switch, but in addition, to activate reserve on the Porsche, you must also flip an extra toggle switch. Unfortunately, by the time all that was accomplished, Christian Abt was long gone and I missed finishing on the podium."

Toni Seiler (# 18 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), DNF: "Unfortunately, I made contact with Georg Engelhardt. I braked a bit too late whereas he was a little too early on the brakes and I hit him, for which I'm very sorry. I apologised immediately, of course. We were then out of the race, but I still don't know why, maybe a damaged transmission or diff."
