Christian Engelhart and Nick Tandy were not the only ones to claim a start-to-finish victory for a Porsche 911 GT3 R in the eleventh race of the ADAC GT Masters at the Lausitzring. Swen Dolenc (FACH AUTO TECH) who currently tops the amateur standings has now extended his lead even further with a sixth victory of the season in his Porsche 911.
The win for Dolenc at the Lausitzring, one of the 44-year-old's absolute favourite tracks, was never in any danger. Right from the start, Dolenc forged ahead of his direct competitors for the title and remained there up to the driver change-over. Martin Ragginger then drove the white and red Porsche through to an overall P7 finish.
"I lost a position at the start and didn't want to risk too much. The second safety car period put us on the back foot, since we had already pitted and so lost four places, but seventh place is OK. The car was brilliant and the team worked perfectly once again."
The two lesser podiums went to Rene Bourdeaux (Team GT3 collision) in the Porsche 911 and Kristian Poulsen (Young Driver AMR) in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3. Whereas Poulsen had led Bourdeaux in the first stint, the order was reversed in the second half of the race, and the Porsche finished four seconds ahead of the Aston Martin.
René Bourdeaux was happy with P2: "I got through the first three turns quite well, but while I was on the back straight, I could see that a crash was in the offing on the turn into the infield. Luckily, I was able to get out of the way. I lost two positions in a couple of scraps but that didn't affect the amateur classification."
Carsten Tilke (Prosperia uhc speed), who started from last but one on the grid, only narrowly missed out on an amateurs podium in his Audi R8 LMS. Fifth place went to Georg Engelhardt (Team GT3 Kasko) in the Porsche 911 GT3 R ahead of Remo Lips (Callaway Competition) in a Corvette Z06.R GT3.
