Dolenc succeeds twice in amateur standings: Porsche driver Swen Dolenc new championship leader in amateur stakes

Swen Dolenc (FACH AUTO TECH) put the icing on the cake to his successful weekend at the Nürburgring by achieving a second victory in the amateur standings. With his fourth win of the season, the 44-year-old in the Porsche 911 GT3 R took over the lead in the amateurs' championship standings at an appropriate place in the season half and is 'half-time champion' at the start of the second half of the season.

Dolenc's victory in the eighth race of the season was never under any real threat. The FACH Porsche, with Martin Ragginger at the wheel, was in third place at the start of the race, and Dolenc too, after the change of drivers, maintained third place for much of the second half of the race. As the race was drawing to a close, two other drivers went past the Porsche dealer, who still finished fifth, ensuring his best result so far in the ADAC GT Masters. "We tried to hedge our bets as regards setup and went for a compromise between wet and dry settings, which made things difficult at the end of the race. I didn't get into too many scrapes, because I was not about to risk my chance of victory in the amateur standings," said Dolenc after the race.

At no point was Aston Martin driver Kristian Poulsen (Young Driver AMR) in second place able to get close to Dolenc. "My tyres were past their best by the second half of the race, so there was nothing I could do."

Third place went to Porsche driver René Bourdeaux (Team GT3 Kasko), just as on Saturday. "Although I had a spin in the Mercedes Arena on the penultimate lap, I still managed to cling on to third place," said the driver from Munich.

Corvette drivers Toni Seiler and Remo Lips (both Callaway Competition) took fourth and fifth place in the amateur stakes from Andrina Gugger and Otto Klohs in the Porsche 911 GT3 R (FACH AUTO TECH).
