ADAC GT Masters driver and FIA GT3 European champion Dominik Baumann has received a special accolade for his achievements during the past season. The International Automobile Federation has selected the young Austrian as its FIA Talent of the Year. Baumann was handed the trophy by FIA President Jean Todt at the awards ceremony for the FIA Central European Zone (CEZ) which was held last Saturday in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.
The 20-year-old won the FIA GT3 European Championship in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 prepared by HEICO Motorsport. His co-driver, Maximilian Buhk, was the youngest contestant in the 2012 ADAC GT Masters. Baumann, who won his spurs in Formel ADAC racing, partnered Hari Proczyk in the ADAC GT Masters for the second year in succession, finishing the season in style with a podium appearance at Hockenheim.
"Being chosen as FIA CEZ Motorsport Talent of the Year is the perfect way to round off a fabulous season," said a delighted Baumann. "I would like to express my very sincere thanks to my team, HEICO Motorsport, to my co-drivers and sponsors, and to my family for all their support."
