Premiere in the ADAC GT Masters: Philip Eng and Christian Ott (MRS GT Racing) achieved the first best time in the ADAC GT Masters for the new McLaren MP4-12C GT3 during practice for 'the League of Super Sports Cars' at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. A lap time of 01:31.095 put Philip Eng and the British sports car at the top of the standings right at the very end of the 60-minute session, consigning the Porsche 911 GT3 R of Nick Tandy/Christian Engelhart (Team Geyer & Weinig / Schütz Motorsport) to second place, 0.363 seconds adrift.
Nicolas Armindo and Robert Renauer (FROGREEN CO2 neutral) in a Porsche 911 GT3 R had held best time until shortly before the end of the session but finished third fastest overall this Friday morning. Florian Spengler and Johannes Leidinger (LIQUI MOLY Team Engstler) produced their best result so far in a practice session this 2012 season, crossing the finish line fourth fastest in the BMW ALPINA B6 GT3. Martin Ragginger and leader of the amateur championship Swen Dolenc (FACH AUTO TECH) posted the fifth-fastest lap time in the 911 GT3 R, confirming the Porsche 911 GT3 R's strong showing this Friday morning.
Daniel Keilwitz and Diego Alessi (Callaway Competition) were the fastest Corvette pair, taking sixth place from the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 of Sebastian Asch and Maximilian Götz (kfzteile MS RACING Team).
Maximilian Buhk/Andreas Simonsen (HEICO Junior Team) in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, the Corvette of Heinz Harald Frentzen/Andreas Wirth (Callaway Competition) and the Ford GT driven by Jesse Krohn/Nico Verdonck (Lambda Performance) were the other top-ten finishers in first practice.
