Injury blow for Philip Geipel: Plauen-based driver to miss home race

Disappointing news for Philip Geipel and YACO Racing powered by Jochen Schweizer: the 25-year-old Camaro driver was doing some cycle training on Saturday ahead of the forthcoming ADAC Masters Weekend when he was knocked off his bike by a passing motorist. In addition to cuts and bruises, he sustained a broken collarbone.

"Given the circumstances, Philip is doing OK," says his father and YACO Racing team boss Uwe Geipel. "Apart from the discomfort, he's obviously annoyed that he won't be in the starting line-up for our home race at the Sachsenring. He's going to have an operation on Tuesday, but he won't be competing in the race, as the collarbone is the precise point where the HANS system presses down. For that reason, starting at the Sachsenring is out of the question. Hopefully, he'll be fit again very soon. We now need to decide who his replacement will be."

Everyone involved in the ADAC GT Masters wishes Philip Geipel a speedy recovery!
