The second practice session of the ADAC GT Masters at the Sachsenring was certainly varied. Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW were all in the lead at some point when after some 40 minutes, Christian Mamerow and René Rast in the Audi R8 LMS ultra (Mamerow Racing) secured the top spot with a 1:22.178. Rain set in a few minutes after the Audi duo had set their fastest lap, so none of the competition was able to top the R8 LMS ultra's time. Mamerow Racing can be very pleased with their first fastest time in practice for the ADAC GT Masters.
Winners of the last race in Zandvoort Joeren den Boer and Simon Knap in the BMW Z4 GT3 (DB Motorsport) were second fastest and just 0.456 adrift, finishing ahead of the second Audi R8 LMS ultra of Christopher Mies and Edward Sandström (Prosperia uhc speed) and the BMW ALPINA B6 GT3 of Dino Lunardi and Maxime Martin (ALPINA).
Best-placed Mercedes pair from first practice Sebastian Asch and Maxmilian Götz (kfzteile24 MS RACING Team) were also quickest in the second session, finishing in sixth place in the gull-wing ahead of the Corvette of championship leaders Diego Alessi/Daniel Keilwitz (Callaway Competition).
Danish pair Kristian Poulsen and Christoffer Nygaard were placed eighth as they crossed the line in the fastest of the two Young Driver AMR Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3s. They were followed home by Martin Matzke and Fredrik Lestrup in the BMW Z4 GT3 (WestCoast Racing) and Jan Seyffarth / Maximilian Mayer in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 (SMS Seyffarth Motorsport).
