Mercedes one-two at the Lausitzring: Two Mercedes Gullwings take top two positions in first practice

Sunshine and a damp track greeted ADAC GT Masters drivers for the first session at the Lausitzring on Friday. After early morning rain, the session started on a wet track that dried out in parts during the course of the 60 minutes.

In first practice, the kfzteile24 MS RACING team continued last year's strong performance in FP1 by achieving their first success in the ADAC GT Masters at the Lausitzring for Mercedes. Sebastian Asch and Maximilian Götz secured best time (01:46.046 min) in the jet-black Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. The second fastest pair, Alexandros Margaritis and Lance David Arnold in the Gullwing Mercedes of SCHÖNER WOHNEN Polarweiss Team HEICO, were just 0.104 seconds adrift.

Two Porsches came home behind the two Mercedes-Benz. Swen Dolenc/Martin Ragginger (FACH AUTO TECH) were third fastest ahead of Nicolas Armindo/Robert Renauer (FROGREEN CO2 neutral). Fifth fastest time went to another Mercedes-Benz campaigned by Kenneth Heyer and Christiaan Frankenhout (HEICO Motorsport).

Heinz-Harald Frentzen, ADAC GT Masters lap record holder at the Lausitzring, posted the sixth-fastest lap in his Corvette Z06.R GT3 together with Andreas Wirth (Callaway Competition). They were followed home by: Dino Lunardi/Maxime Martin in the BMW ALPINA B6 GT3 (ALPINA), René Bourdeaux/Alfred Renauer Porsche 911 GT3 R (Team GT3 Kasko) and Dominik Baumann/Hari Proczyk in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 (HEICO Motorsport).

Ex-Formula 1 driver Karl Wendlinger, making his ADAC GT Masters debut, went straight into the Top Ten along with Jan Seyffarth in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG prepared by Seyffarth Motorsport.
