What else happened during ADAC GT Masters Weekend No 4 in the Eifel?
- René Rast's impressive winning streak came to an end on Sunday. Over previous weekends, Rast had notched up two Carrera Cup and two Supercup victories in succession, then claimed a fifth win in Saturday's race at the Nürburgring.
- Dino Lunardi recorded his sixth ADAC GT Masters win in Race 2 on Sunday. This makes the Frenchman the fifth-most successful driver in the series after Christopher Haase, Albert von Thurn und Taxis, Peter Kox and Luca Ludwig.
- Race 2 on Sunday was Frank Kechele's fiftieth in the ADAC GT Masters. The Corvette driver may still be looking for his first race win, but can nonetheless point to an impressive tally of pole positions in the ADAC GT Masters - ten percent of all races he has contested. Meanwhile, Albert von Thurn und Taxis was lining up for the sixtieth time in this series.
- Victory for the BMW ALPINA B6 GT3 on Sunday was the eleventh ADAC GT Masters triumph for the muscular coupé from Swabia. No fewer than four of these eleven wins have been achieved at the Nürburgring. Only the Lamborghini LP520 GT3 and the Audi R8 LMS / LMS ultra have more victories to their credit (13 and 15 respectively).
- This weekend at the Nürburgring marked an inglorious first. Rain in all sessions and in both races (it was even drizzling during the first qualifying session); no ADAC GT Masters race weekend has been this wet since 2007.
- Farnbacher ESET Racing team manager Dominik Farnbacher made a special journey from the USA to be present at the Nürburgring. He has been testing the new SRT Viper at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the GTE class of the American Le Mans Series. In the week leading up to the race at the Red Bull, the SRT works team driver will be entering the 'poisonous snake' for its first race in anger at the Mid-Ohio.
- Rally Germany calls in on ADAC GT Masters: At a breakfast-time press conference on Sunday morning, Rally Germany director Armin Kohl told the assembled journalists about innovations planned for this year's German round of the World Rally Championship.
- A new face in the pit lane: Annica Hansen joined regular presenter Jan Stecker on the 'ran racing' programme broadcast by commercial TV channel kabel eins. She was standing in for Andrea Kaiser who is on holiday.
- 'Brother Pursuit' on the internet: The film about the ADAC Zurich 24hr race, which features the Stuck brothers driving around the famous Nordschleife of the Nürburgring and which had its premiere at the Nürburgring, can now be watched at www.stuck3.com.
- Quite a few of the ADAC GT Masters drivers have a real marathon ahead of them before the next race at the Red Bull Ring. Among those competing in the Total 24 Hours of Spa this weekend will be Maxime Martin, Dino Lunardi, Christopher Mies, Edward Sandström, Marc A. Hayek, Peter Kox, René Rast, Frank Kechele, Simon Knap, Jeroen den Boer and Nico Verdonck.
