Porsche one-two in second practice: The Porsche 911s produced a strong performance in practice

Porsche has the upper hand at the Red Bull Ring: the 911 GT3 R confirmed the strong showing from first practice again during the second ADAC GT Masters session in Austria. A total of five '911s' were among the top seven in Friday afternoon's second practice session. Under cloudy skies and in cool conditions, Mario Farnbacher and Niclas Kentenich (Farnbacher ESET Racing) secured the fastest time of 1:30.912 minutes in their Porsche 911 GT3 R. They were 0.041 seconds up on fellow Porsche drivers Swen Dolenc, who heads the amateur standings, and Martin Ragginger.

With a deficit of 0.404 seconds, the Corvette of Diego Alessi/Daniel Keilwitz (Callaway Competition), who are ranked second in the standings, took third place from the Porsche 911 of Robert Renauer/Niclas Armindo (FROGREEN CO2 neutral). Robert's twin brother, Alfred Renauer, and René Bourdeaux (Team GT3 Kasko) were fourth, just one place behind, in another 911 GT3 R.

Heinz Harald Frentzen and Andreas Wirth (Callaway Competition) secured the sixth fastest time in their Corvette ahead of the yellow-black Porsche 911 GT3 of Christian Engelhart and Nick Tandy (Team Geyer & Weinig / Schütz Motorsport).

The fastest pair from the morning's first session, Christian Ott and Philipp Eng (MRS GT Racing), took P8 in the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 from the best placed Audi R8 LMS ultra campaigned by Edward Sandström/Christopher Mies (Prosperia uhc speed) and the Ford GT driven by Jesse Krohn/Nico Verdonck (Lambda Performance).

After their triumphant weekend at the Nürburgring, the success ballast finally made itself felt in Austria for championship leaders Dino Lunardi and Maxime Martin in the BMW ALPINA B6 GT3; the ALPINA duo finished in the middle of the field in P19.
