Christmas has come early for Nick Tandy - having won four races in the 2012 ADAC GT Masters season, he has now been signed by Porsche as one of their works drivers. Earlier this month, Tandy as best Porsche privateer won the Porsche Cup. The premium sports car manufacturer has now reeled in the speedy Englishman as a member of its ten-strong works squad.

Tandy has impressed over recent years with consistently strong performances. In 2010, the 27-year-old was runner-up in the Porsche Carrera Cup, and a year later, went on to take the title. Partnering Christian Engelhart in the Porsche 911 GT3 entered by Geyer & Weinig EDV / Schütz Motorsport, Tandy notched up four victories in the ADAC GT Masters; on a statistical basis, this gives him the best score rate of anyone competing in the series - four wins out of twelve. In the 2013 season, the Tandy/Engelhart duo not only won at Oschersleben and at the Red Bull Ring but also celebrated a double victory at the Lausitzring. Elsewhere on the racing calendar, Tandy lined up in the American Le Mans Series, finishing as runner-up in the GT Open.

"For me, this is a dream come true," says Nick Tandy. "Since the first time I drove a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, it was my aim to be a Porsche works driver one day. I´ll be doing my very best to justify the confidence they have shown in me."

Tandy has the first outing on his new contract at the end of January in the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA). The rest of his diary for the 2013 season should start to fill up quite quickly now.
