ADAC GT Masters·6.5.2012

Quotes after Race 2 in Zandvoort: I had to fight like a lion

Jeroen de Boer (#41 DB Motorsport - BMW Z4 GT3), winner: "At the start, I had the ALPINA very close to me, but I was able to defend my position. I ran a bit wide on the second lap over a curve, but got away with it. It's great that we have won, you can't ask for a better home race."

Simon Knap (#41 DB Motorsport - BMW Z4 GT3), winner: "I had the ALPINA very close behind, but he couldn't pass me. We got lucky at the end with their retirement. My rear tyres were getting better throughout, but I didn't get myself into the position where I would have had to attack."

Christian Engelhart (#36 Team Geyer & Weinig/Schütz Motorsport - Porsche 911 GT3 R), retired: "Nick Tandy was hit by some of the other competitors at the start and we had to retire from the race. Because of this, I had the time to follow the race on TV. I didn't like the driving I saw; it was too hard and too aggressive."

Dominik Schwager (#20 Schubert Motorsport - BMW Z4 GT3), 2nd place: I had so much contact at the start that I thought that my race would be over at the first corner. It's amazing that I was able to get through the first corner safely. We wouldn't have beaten the ALPINA today. Second place is ok, but I'm not that happy overall with the weekend. Non-scores like yesterday hurt a lot in the championship race."

Sebastian Asch (#5 kfzteile24 MS RACING Team - Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), 3rd place: "We extracted the maximum possible from the car, there was nothing more to give. We scored some good points today and remain close to the top of the championship table."

Maximilian Götz (#5 kfzteile24 MS RACING Team - Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), 3rd place: "In the first half of the race, I didn't have a chance to get past Frankenhout's Mercedes. Third place is good and in comparison to yesterday, we had a very good pitstop."

Toni Seiler (#18 Callaway Competition - Corvette Z06.R GT3), 15th place, 4th in Amateur class: "I'm sorry to Marc Hayek for colliding with him and I'm very annoyed at myself. It wasn't deliberate. I took a few bumps during the race. At the end of the race, my steering was crooked and I had to fight like a lion."

Kristian Poulsen (#32 Young Driver AMR - Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3), 5th place, 2nd in Amateur class: "We were unlucky in the first race, fifth today is ok. It is also the first time that I have driven here. At the end of the race I was behind the Ferrari and couldn't get past. I was quicker in the corners and the Ferrari was quicker on the straights. Then there was a collision and I was able to profit from it."

Carsten Tilke (#22 Prosperia uhc speed - Audi R8 LMS ultra), 4th place, winner in Amateur class: "The car was perfect and the race was a lot of fun. I found a better rhythm with my driving than yesterday. I gave it my all, it is my best finishing position to date in the ADAC GT Masters. I was overtaken by Maxi Götz and he was able to get away but not drive away completely. The groundwork by Christian Abt was, as usual, perfect."

Diego Alessi (#22 Prosperia uhc speed - Audi R8 LMS ultra), 6th place: "I'm sorry about the contact with the Ferrari at the end of the race, it wasn't intentional. I lost the car over a bump under braking. Farnbacher is a fair racer, so I'm very sorry. The race was not perfect, but a day like yesterday doesn't happen all of the time."

Jesse Krohn (#38 Lambda Performance - Ford GT), retired: "Alessi made a mistake at the first corner and I was alongside him. He didn't leave me any room in the second corner and all of a sudden, I was just a passenger and I flew off the track."

Achim Winter (#35 YACO Racing powered by Jochen Schweizer - Chevrolet Camaro GT), 29th place: "Our car ran without any problems for the first time, then during the race unfortunately I felt something on the rear and had to pit. We are extremely fast on the straights, but we have a lot of work to do in the corners."

Dino Lunardi (#1 ALPINA - BMW ALPINA B6 GT3), retired: "The engine cut out suddenly and wouldn't start again. This just goes to show that anything can happen and we were really unlucky today."

Andreas Wirth (#27 Callaway Competition - Corvette Z06.R GT3), 7th place: "To go from nineteenth on the grid to seventh is ok. I'm not happy though because there were far too many unnecessary incidents in the race today."

Ferdinand Stuck (#33 Young Driver AMR - Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3), retired: "My start was decent, I was able to make up some places. Then I got stuck behind some of the other drivers and had problems with the tyres. Unfortunately, we had some bad luck. Johannes' accident with Kenneth Heye was a shame, but I think it was a racing incident. We would have preferred a race like yesterday and to have scored some good points."
