Rest/Mamerow pile on pressure: Mamerow Audi pair ahead again in second practice at Nürburgring

During another rain-affected practice session at the Nürburgring, René Rast and Chris Mamerow again bagged best time in the second practice session of the ADAC GT Masters. The Mamerow drivers in the Audi R8 LMS ultra posted a time of 01:39.354mins on the wet Nürburgring sprint track to achieve best time in FP2. As in first practice, the Audi was followed home by Maxime Martin and Dino Lunardi, who were just 0.026 seconds adrift in the final minute of the session, securing second fastest time in the BMW ALPINA B6 GT3 (ALPINA).

Racing for the first time at the Nürburgring in the new Porsche 911 GT3 R (Farnbacher Racing ESET), Niclas Kentenich and Mario Farnbacher were third on the wet track, finishing ahead of the Audi R8 LMS ultra of Christian Abt/Luca Ludwig (Prosperia uhc speed).

Last year's winner Christiaan Frankenhout and Kenneth Heyer were fifth in the fastest Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (HEICO Motorsport) ahead of the Porsche 911 GT3 R, co-driven by Robert Renauer/Nicki Thiim (FROGREEN CO2 neutral), and the Lamborghini Gallardo LP600+ (Rhino's Leipert Motorsport) of David Mengesdorf/Raphael Bader.

Martin Ragginger and Swen Dolenc, who are currently second in the amateur standings, again brought home their Porsche 911 GT3 R (FACH AUTO TECH) in the Top Ten in second practice by finishing eighth, followed by Andreas Simonsen and Maximilian Buhk in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (HEICO Juniorteam) and Christopher Mies/Edward Sandström in the Audi R8 LMS ultra (Prosperia uhc speed).

Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Andreas Wirth in their Z06.R Corvette (Callaway Competition) were eleventh and just narrowly missed going into the Top Ten. Team-mates and championship leaders Diego Alessi and Daniel Keilwitz finished 25th in the middle of the field.
