The ADAC Masters Weekend takes place for the second time in Austria after a successful premiere last year. The sports cars of the ADAC GT Masters, Formel ADAC, ATS Formula 3 Cup, the ADAC Procar and MINI TROPHY support series make for spectacular motor racing at the Red Bull Ring.
A hallmark of the ADAC Masters Weekend: all the drivers competing in the series are always keen to present themselves to the general public, as happened last Wednesday at the 'Arena am Waldfeld' shopping centre in Fohnsdorf. Two days before the start of the fifth race weekend of the season in Austria, fans were treated to a free show event to put them in the perfect mood for the high-powered racing action.
Local driver Gottfried Grasser who races in the ADAC GT Masters was on hand to answer questions from the many visitors. His GRT Grasser Racing team is based in Knittelfeld, only a few kilometres away from the Red Bull Ring. Grasser did a demo run in his Lamborghini Gallardo, providing a foretaste of the two races in the League of Super Sports Cars this weekend. The Stuck brothers, Ferdinand and John, and current championship leader Maxime Martin signed autographs, looking very relaxed as they chatted with visitors.
Thomas Jäger represented Formel ADAC at the show event in Styria. This is a home race two times over for the youngster from Breitenfurth near Vienna, since his team, Neuhauser Racing, is also from Austria. Jäger was not the only one giving fans a taste of high-octane motor racing - a 700bhp Toyota Camry from America's NASCAR series performed a couple of laps on a closed road.
