Gottfried Grasser from Knittelfeld contests his home race at the Red Bull Ring with a distinguished co-driver: Andrea Piccini, one of the winning Audi R8 LMS ultra trio from this year's Total 24 Hours of Spa, will be sharing the Lamborghini Gallardo cockpit with the local favourite.

Piccini tried his hand at ADAC GT Masters racing in last year's fixture at the Nürburgring and is now looking forward to his next outing in a Lamborghini. "Just over 10 years ago when I was coaching the drivers in Walter Penker's team, the Red Bull Ring was a sort of second home for me," says Piccini. "I got to know Gottfried Grasser at the time, and when he asked me to partner him in his home race, I agreed immediately."

Piccini won't be the only Spa 24hr winner in action at the sole Austrian circuit on the ADAC GT Masters calendar: Phoenix team-mate René Rast will be driving one of the stints for Mamerow Racing in their Audi R8 LMS.
