Start-to-finish victory for Poulsen in Amateurs: Kristian Poulsen notches up second win of season

Win number two for Kristian Poulsen: In the first of the double race bill at the Sachsenring, the Dane celebrated his second win of the season in the amateur classification. Right from the start, Poulsen in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage pulled away from fellow amateurs Swen Dolenc in the FACH AUTO TECH-Porsche 911 GT3 R and Toni Seiler in the Callaway Corvette Z06.R GT3. The order of the top trio remained unchanged until the changeover of drivers.

In the second stint, Christoffer Nygaard then nailed victory in the amateur classification for his team-mate. But there was a change in the table behind the leader, with Seiler's team-mate Frank Kechele overtaking the FACH Porsche now driven by Martin Ragginger, thereby enabling two-time amateur champion Seiler to climb up to second.

"Fourth place overall and victory in the amateur classification is an excellent result," said a delighted Poulsen. "I had a good start and a good car. We may have lacked a bit of power on the straights here, but apart from that, our Aston Martin did a great job."

Carsten Tilke in the Prosperia uhc speed Audi R8 was out of luck. The 28-year-old seemed to have a good result already sewn up but was then thwarted by two stop-and-go penalties for a rushed pit stop. So in the end, he had to settle for fifth place behind Georg Engelhardt in the Porsche 911 GT3 R entered by Team GT3 Kasko.

This second victory in the amateur standings puts Poulsen equal first alongside previous sole leader Swen Dolenc.
