ADAC GT Masters·30.3.2012

Voices from the paddock: We can't use the full potential of the car yet

Johannes Stuck (#32 Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, after Free Practice 1): "We still have a lot of work to do, particularly with the suspension setup. The rain and the cold temperatures did not make our work any easier."

Christopher Mies (#21 Prosperia uhc speed Audi R8 LMS ulra, after Free Practice 1): "I'm surprised at how close together the field was despite the wet track. On a wet track, the interval between cars is actually bigger. All of the cars on the track, including us, had a few problems with traction as it was very slippery. The new rain tyres from YOKOHAMA have made a good impression."

Dino Lunardi (#1 ALPINA-BMW ALPINA B6 GT3): "We were cautious, took our time and did not take any unnecessary risks in the conditions. I can't say a lot about the new rain tyres because I did not do a lot of driving in the rain last year, so I do not have a lot to compare."

Dominik Baumann (#6 HEICO Motorsport-Mercedes Benz SLS AMG): "In the first session, our driveshaft broke which unfortunately cost us some track time. In the second session, we were alright until the middle of the session, but the others probably used new tyres and we fell behind. Then it was raining lightly again and there was traffic. The temperatures here have been the complete opposite to when we tested here in warmer conditions, which has a great effect on the tyres."

Christiaan Frankenhout (#7 HEICO Motorsport-Mercedes Benz SLS AMG): "In the rain this morning, the car was not so good, but things were better on a drying track. Generally, it was quite difficult. We can't draw many conclusions because of the weather. However, we can already say that the level of competition this year is considerably higher than in previous years."

Alexandros Margaritis (#10 SCHÖHNER WOHNEN Polarweiss Team HEICO): "We're not completely happy and have some time to find. In the second free practice session we had bad luck with rain, traffic and yellow flags. But we are still not where we want to be."

Sebastian Asch (#5 kfzteile24 MS RACING Team): "We have been running quite well, the basic speed is there. Now I am curious to see how qualifying goes and how the lap times evolve."

Heinz-Harald Frentzen (#27 Callaway Competition-Corvette Z06R-GT3): "We are not completely happy and still have several small problems. We have a new engine this year and have to adjust the electronics accordingly. We also have work to do on the suspension setup. The new car is more aggressive, but is more difficult to drive. In any case, the Corvette has great potential, but so far, we have been unable to use it properly."

Kristian Poulsen (#33 Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3): "A difficult day for us so far. We still have a bit of work to do with the car and I have to get used to GT cars. The weather conditions did not make the learning process any easier."

Frank Kechele (#18 Callaway Competition-Corvette Z06-R GT3): "Our car is brand new and has run for the first time, so there are many smaller things that we need to work on. I am very happy with seventh place in the second free practice session. The Corvette is a great car with great potential and we must unlock this potential slowly. The goal for this weekend is to finish, gain experience and collect points."
