ADAC GT Masters·11.1.2013

2013 Camaro: Bigger boots and wings: Extensive updates to Chevrolet Camaro GT.

The Chevrolet Camaro GT is the first GT3 sports car to really push the boat out, sporting 19 inch rims on all four wheels for the start the 2013 season. But the American muscle car, prepared by Yaco Racing Team powered by Jochen Schweizer that lined up on the ADAC GT Masters grid last season has a number of more discreet updates underneath its carbon fibre shell for its second season in motor racing.

Apart from the 19-inch wheels and larger brake discs, the new aero package is the most visible update on the revised Camaro GT. The aerodynamics modifications that Sareni United tested on the track in December include a new front splitter and rear wing. Another mod for the 2013 season, a limited slip differential, also proved a worthwhile addition during Sareni United´s winter testing sessions in Spain and Italy.

Furthermore, the Camaro that came into the above 1300kg weight category in the 2012 season has now been slimmed down, tipping the scales at 1280kg instead of the previous 1355kg.

Sareni United have taken stock of the Camaro GT´s debut season and are optimistic about 2013 in view of the improvements undertaken: "We learned a lot during the car´s first year. It takes a lot of work to develop, build and deploy a new racing car. YACO Racing team utilised two Camaro GTs in the ADAC GT Masters and did sterling work throughout the whole season. We suffered some setbacks that only served to motivate us to make the car even better. So, you will see a much more competitive Camaro GT next year, given the latest modifications, the new aero package and reduced weight."
