René Rast (#27 Prosperia C. Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), winner: "You don´t normally expect to win a race after starting from 15th on the grid, but the rain played into our hands. Christopher got off to a great start and was already up to seventh by the end of Lap 1. We then made a policy decision to go for an early pit stop, as Christopher was stuck in traffic. I was then able to overtake two Porsches."
Christopher Mies (#27 Prosperia C. Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), winner: "There was a fair amount of chaos on the first corner after the start, but I was lucky and found a gap. After that, I was stuck behind a bunch of cars. I was clearly faster but couldn´t get past. Then we made our pit stop and the tactic worked to our advantage, because René came out just ahead of that same group."
Robert Renauer (#8 Tonino by Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P3: "In the second half of the race, we had a problem with our exhaust – the car sounded more like a V8. Martin was complaining about loss of power, and with this handicap, he was unable to attack in the second half of the race."
Martin Ragginger (#8 Tonino by Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R) P3: "Robert laid the groundwork for our podium with a very strong drive. My stint didn´t go quite as well. I was too slow in the middle part, but then the car got faster again towards the end."
Mario Farnbacher (#6 Farnbacher Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P2: "Philipp got off to a super start and was incredibly fast in these difficult conditions. When my stint came round, it was rather slow by comparison. There was nothing I could do to stop the Audi, because I was driving right at the limit and I was unable to fend off the attack from Rast. But Audi have always been fast in the wet. I am very proud that Philipp and I finished on the podium in our first race together."
Diego Alessi (#2 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3) P14: "The car was very difficult to drive in the rain. We knew it would be from our experience of last year. We tested the YOKOHAMA rain tyres in the run-up to the season and got on well with them. I presume the combination of the track surface here at Oschersleben and the cool temperatures didn´t allow them to work the way they should."
Nicolas Armindo (#4 Team Geyer & Weinig / Schütz Motorsport), DNF: "Götz hit me and something broke on the car. There was a lot of smoke coming out of the car, so I stopped and parked it in order to prevent further damage."
Remo Lips (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P18 overall and P2 in the Gentlemen class: "I coped really well with the wet conditions and was very fast. At times, I was the fastest Corvette driver in the rain. I managed to stay out of all the trouble at the start of the race. On the final laps, Lenny unfortunately had no chance of holding off the Porsche."
Allan Simonsen (#5 Farnbacher Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P13: "Christina drove a great race and was able to make good several positions right at the start. The car was excellent in the rain today. Yesterday, we were having a few problems with the car, but today it was fine, and the rain certainly helped our cause."
Lennart Marioneck (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P18: "That was a tremendously difficult race for me. It was not just my first outing in the Corvette but also the first time I´ve ever driven a car like that in the wet. I found myself at 90 degrees to the track a couple of times and was just concentrating on bringing the car home in one piece."
Philip Geipel (#16 THE BOSS YACO Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra) P4: "The race gradually got more enjoyable as it went on. When I looked out of the window this morning and saw that it was raining, I wasn´t exactly thrilled, because we don´t know the Audi very well yet, even in the dry. But the car performed excellently in the rain and I felt quite comfortable about it. If the track hadn´t dried out towards the end, we might even have got a podium out of this race. From 22nd on the grid to a P4 finish isn´t bad when you consider that our car hadn´t been driven at all before 8am yesterday morning."
Nico Verdonck (#14 Lambda Performance, Ford GT), P5: "My start couldn´t have been better, but then I got stuck behind a Mercedes; because of its colossal torque and excellent traction, it´s a difficult car for us to get past. I could certainly have gone faster, but I didn´t want to take any unnecessary risks."
Frank Kechele (#14 Lambda Performance, Ford GT), P5: "This was the first time we´ve driven our Ford GT in the rain, and we didn´t have the optimum setup for these conditions. The mechanical aspects of the Ford are OK but as regards the electronics such as ABS and traction control, there is room for us to improve. We´re also lacking straight line speed, which makes it all the harder to overtake. Even so, P5 was our target and we´re very pleased to have hit it."
