ADAC GT Masters: Comments after the race: Quotes from the ADAC GT Masters paddock

Jeroen den Boer (#12 DB Motorsport, BMW Z4 GT3), winner:

"After the driver changeover, I was fairly cautious over the first few metres in the wet. But everything went right immediately, and I was two seconds faster than the pursuing bunch. As the track gradually started to dry out, it got a bit more difficult, and for the first time this season, our BMW wasn't good to drive in the wet. Over the last four laps, I eased off slightly."

Simon Knap (#12 DB Motorsport, BMW Z4 GT3), winner:

"Right after the start, I was onto Kechele's tail and was considerably quicker than him. Then it was a matter of choosing my moment. As soon as I got past, I opened up a sizeable gap."

Markus Winkelhock (#28 Prosperia C Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), P2:

"That was a good race, and our Audi worked to perfection. I didn't want to force my way past Buhk in the closing phase, so I just waited for my opportunity. That duly came along, but I still had contact with the Mercedes twice. I was surprised by the risky way in which he was driving, because after all, he's a contender for the title."

Dominik Baumann (#19 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3), P3:

"I'm well satisfied with third position. The race today was very difficult, and the conditions were changing towards the end. On the last lap, I managed to pip Maximilian Buhk to the post. I overtook him on the outside on the final corner, and it worked out well for me."

Christer Jöns (#28 Prosperia C Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), P2:

"The decision to start the race behind the safety car was absolutely the right one, because the conditions were very difficult at that stage. At first, I held back slightly, because my team-mate Christopher Mies was having problems with his ABS system just ahead of me. When he skidded momentarily off track, I managed to get past and go on a charge. Then Markus (Winkelhock) brought our car safely home. The only time I was worried was when he was battling it out with Buhk, because the Mercedes wasn't giving an inch."

René Bourdeaux (#9 Tonino powered by Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), winner in Gentlemen classification:

"It wasn't at all easy for the first few laps, as there was barely any visibility. I was following Remo (Lips), but after the pit stop, my co-driver Alfred Renauer seized the lead in the classification. I'm relieved that Christina (Nielsen) finished behind me today, because that has helped me to extend my championship lead."

Remo Lips (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), second in Gentlemen classification:

"It's a long time since I last competed in a wet weather race, so it took me a while to adjust to the conditions. After that, though, it went well. Unfortunately, we seem to have lost five seconds on the pit stop, which cost us the class win."

Christina Nielsen (#5 Farnbacher Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R), third in Gentlemen classification:

"The weekend hasn't been easy for us so far. The only positive feature is that we at least scored some points. The setup wasn't right today, but Farnbacher Racing have entered three Porsches, so for tomorrow's race, we'll select the setup that works best."

Robert Renauer (#9 Tonino powered by Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P6:

"That wasn't a straightforward race, but we still did everything right. The Slovakia Ring isn't exactly a track that suits the Porsche, so we knew we would have our work cut out. By the time the end of the season comes round, every point counts."

Maximilian Götz (#10 Polarweiss Racing, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), P4:

"I had problems with visibility for much of the race, because the cars driving just in front of me kept going through the mud after the chicane and throwing up dirt onto my windscreen. As the track began to dry out, it still didn't make things any easier for our car. But at least this P4 finish means that we have narrowed the gap at the top of the table."

Mario Farnbacher (#6 Farnbacher Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P10:

"Our car was simply undriveable today. I was just sliding around all over the place and trying as best I could to get it to the end of the race. Philipp (Frommenwiler) went into the gravel once and I did the same twice, so in the circumstances, P10 isn't a bad result."
