ADAC GT Masters: Comments after the race: Quotes from the paddock after Race 9 of the 2013 season

Daniel Keilwitz (#2 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), winner: "I kept getting updates from the team on the gap to the Ford GT, so I could step on the gas whenever I was told that he was shaping up for an attack. I nursed my tyres over several laps, which gave me a bit of a cushion. If the Ford had got any closer, things could have got tricky for me. But as it was, I managed to control the race through to the finish."

Diego Alessi (#2 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3): "It was quite tight for a few laps after the start. In recent races, we've been having problems with our tyre pressures. Consequently, I set off today with the pressure rather too low, and it was two or three laps before the tyres started to work properly. After that, the car got easier to drive. The Red Bull Ring is perfect for us, which is why we put in such a good performance here. In the second race, we'll be carrying some success ballast, which will make life a bit harder for us."

Frank Kechele (#14 Lambda Performance, Ford GT), second: "After the start, I was just behind the Corvette driven by Andreas Wirth and was unable to get past, even though I knew I could have gone faster than him. So then we came in for an early pit stop in the hope that it would bring us out in front. That decision paid off; we overtook the Corvette and moved up the running order by one position."

Dominik Schwager (#14 Lambda Performance, Ford GT), second: "I outbraked the Corvette every time, but when we accelerated out of the corners, he was always gaining 30 metres on me. At that sort of distance, you haven't got any slipstream, and on the corners, you've got none at all. We were always going to be second best today. But I didn't stop pushing, because you never know what might happen."

Mario Farnbacher (#6 Farnbacher Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R), third: "I managed to keep up with the Corvette during the first half of the race, but it was too fast on the straights, although I got pretty close on the braking manoeuvres. I was waiting for Alessi to make a mistake, but he didn't oblige me. After all the drama in the last couple of races, though, it's just nice to be back on the podium."

Philip Frommenwiler (#6 Farnbacher Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R), third: "The Ford GT overtook us with quite a bold manoeuvre, but it worked well for them. Towards the end of the race, there wasn't a lot more I could do, as the brakes were completely at their limit and the rear tyres were heavily degraded."

René Rast (#27 Prosperia C Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), P6: "We were quite lucky on the last lap, as we benefited from a collision between a BMW and a Corvette which moved us up two places in the classification. Otherwise we would have finished eighth, which is about where we would have expected to be anyway. We're just too slow on the straights - it's like driving with the handbrake on."

Christian Hohenadel (#3 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P13: "I had contact with Simon Knap's BMW on the final lap. He was attempting to block me on the exit of Turn 3; suddenly he came off the gas instead of accelerating. I nudged the back of his car which spun him off track. We then got penalised for the incident."

Christopher Haase (#26 Prosperia C Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), P12: "We moved up from 21st on the grid to finish twelfth, so I think that's OK. I had a fairly unspectacular stint, because Rahel (Frey) had laid the groundwork in the first half of the race and all I had to do was get the car across the finishing line."

Mike Parisy (#18 Callaway Competition ,Corvette Z06.R GT3), DNF: "Unfortunately, I didn't even get to drive the car today, because my co-driver Toni Seiler had to park it on the first stint with a gearbox failure."

Remo Lips (#17 Callaway Competition ,Corvette Z06.R GT3), winner in Gentlemen class: "I got off to a great start and was building up a good lead, but on the first corner, I had to make a big detour around the outside. At last, things are picking up for us. It's been a long time coming, though. In the second half, Lenny (Marioneck) drove a strong race."

René Bourdeaux: (#9 Tonino powered by Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R): "I was much too cautious in today's race. I certainly wasn't aggressive enough, otherwise a win might have been on the cards. Today, I was focusing far too much on just finishing in the points."

Christina Nielsen (#5 Farnbacher Racing ,Porsche 911 GT3 R), third in Gentlemen class: "For the first half of the race, I was leading in the Gentlemen category and my race was going well. But then a Mercedes just ahead of me drove through the dirt next to the track. It kicked up a lot of dust onto the track. Visibility was poor and I lost a couple of positions."
