ADAC GT Masters: Comments from practice: What the drivers had to say after their first laps at the Slovakia Ring.

Andreas Simonsen (#11 Polarweiss Racing, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3): "Things went well for us in the first practice session, but after that, we had problems in FP2 with massive oversteer. The car broke away so violently in the chicane that I thought I would land in the tyre stacks and my weekend would be over, but I missed the tyre wall by a hair's breadth. I hope we can get to the bottom of the problem, as I was six tenths of a second slower on the fresh tyres as compared to the old, used ones. Very unusual, that."

Daniel Keilwitz (#2 Callaway Competition Corvette Z06.R GT3): "The weekend will be very tough because the track is much worse than expected for our Corvette. We simply lack downforce on the many twisty sections and are not able to make up for lost time on the straights."

Kuba Giermaziak (#5 Farnbacher Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R): "I'm in the Porsche 911 GT3 R for the first time this weekend. I've not had much experience of it so far because I had a little slide into the tyre wall. Well, I hope that we can fix the car in time for qualifying."

Christian Hohenadel (#3 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3): "The track is very nice, but mentally very taxing. You have to think two hillcrests in advance, because the track is so demanding. We are very quick on the straights but simply lack the aerodynamics running through the many fast turns. A finish somewhere between P5 and 10 would be excellent for us this weekend, being realistic."

Jörg Müller (#20 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3): "I began the first session on old tyres and then went onto fresh rubber. I miscalculated a bit on the new tyres and made slight contact with a tyre stack when turning in. At any rate, the Slovakia Ring should be super for our BMW. However, you have to be very careful when trying to get the best out of the Yokohama tyres but that's what it's all about when you're battling for top positions. We didn't manage to do quite as well as the other BMW drivers from DB Motorsport today."

Florian Stoll (#1MS RACING, Audi R8 LMS ultra): "The track is very nice and great fun, even if the chicane on the back straight upsets your rhythm somewhat on every lap. We hope to achieve grid position ten or thereabouts in the quali."

Albert von Thurn und Taxis (#41 SaReNi United, Chevrolet Camaro): "We are making more progress with the Camaro but are still a bit too slow. Basically, we're just missing a few kilometres of testing with the car and need a bit more time to get to know it."

Mike Parisy (#18 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3): "I know the track very well. I won here two years ago in the Mercedes and raced here four weeks ago in the McLaren. You have to take a very different line in the Corvette, though. However, we are constantly improving and working well as a team. I think we can achieve a good result in qualifying, because unlike in the previous two races, I now know the track and the car too."

Robert Renauer (#8 Tonino powered by Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R): "We expected a tough weekend and it appears we were right. The Slovakia Ring is simply not a Porsche track. Rain would help us a lot. Perhaps DB's BMW or Ford can win here, though, which would not be such a bad thing for us in view of the current situation in the championship standings."
