After four regular-season victories, the team of Diego Alessi and Daniel Keilwitz are leading the pack in the Callaway Competition-developed and built Corvette Z06.R GT3. This weekend, the penultimate race weekend of the season provides a new challenge to the Callaway Competition drivers, as the ADAC GT Masters series races at the Slovakia Ring for the first time. The uncharted territory will also be faced by Andreas Wirth and Christian Hohenadel and their Corvette following their excellent performance in the last race. They have a top five finish in their sights.
"I don't really know what to expect in the two races on the Slovakia Ring", says Points Leader Diego Alessi. "I hope that we can move forward. There are some long straights that should play into our hands, but also very fast, long curves, in which we certainly have a handicap."
The first place Alessi/Keilwitz team wants more points at the Slovakia Ring: "After 12 races we have a lead of three points in the standings. The first seven teams are separated from each other by 47 points, with 100 points for the winner. Currently, a different strategy to manage to capture the championship, to score as many points as possible, is impossible in this tight standings situation. That's why we must make the most of every situation at the Slovakia Ring.
Callaway Competition Team Manager Giovanni Ciccone is optimistic: "The race at the Slovakia ring will be difficult, because we have no frame of reference at this track. Some of our client teams have already gotten started there, but on different tires. If we get it right, our Corvette will certainly deliver at the Slovakia Ring."
In the PILOT-Corvette, Andreas Wirth and Christian Hohenadel also want to pick up the attack at the Slovakia Ring. After a difficult start to the season, the Wirth/Hohenadel team hope to haul in the points at the Slovakia Ring debut.
In cooperation with Toni Seiler Racing, Callaway Competition will start two other Corvette Z06.R entries: Toni Seiler/Mike Parisy and Remo Lips/Lennart Marioneck in the Gentlemen-Category.
