BMW sets pace in second practice: Best time for Simon Knap and Jeroen den Boer in second session

Simon Knap and Jeroen den Boer flexed their muscles in the second ADAC GT Masters practice session at the Slovakia Ring. Knap set fastest time in the BMW Z4 GT3 (2:03.474 min), coming home 0.624 seconds up on the Ford GT driven by Frank Kechele/Dominik Schwager (Lambda Performance). With Maximilian Götz/Maximilian Buhk in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 in third place and Christer Jöns/Markus Winkelhock fourth in the Audi R8 LMS ultra, four different brands of supercars placed in the top four positions at the Slovakia premiere of the ADAC GT Masters.

"Simon went out on track running fresh tyres and secured best time straightaway," said Jeroen den Boer, pleased with their achievement. "But subsequently, we were unable to get anywhere near that time. We've done very well here so far, and the track really suits our BMW." Knap achieved an average speed of 172.7km/h on his fastest lap. After Spa-Francorchamps, the Slovakia Ring is the second-longest track in the ADAC GT Masters and is also second only to the Belgian Formula 1 circuit in producing the fastest lap times.

Prosperia C Abt Racing brought home all of the team's three Audi R8 LMS ultras in the Top Ten once again during the second session at the 5.922km Slovakia Ring; Christopher Mies/René Rast were fifth, Rahel Frey/Christopher Haase ninth.

The two BMW Z4 GT3s prepared by PIXUM Team Schubert came home in sixth and seventh position with birthday girl Claudia Hürtgen (she will be 42 this week) and Dominik Baumann taking P6 from Max Sandritter/Jörg Müller. As in first practice this morning, Philip Frommenwiler and Mario Farnbacher were the fastest Porsche team in the 911 GT3 R fielded by Farnbacher Racing. Andreas Wirth and Christian Hohenadel (Callaway Competition) were tenth in their Corvette Z06, placing in front of team-mates and current championship leaders Diego Alessi/Daniel Keilwitz.
