ADAC GT Masters·7.6.2013

Comments after qualifying: Reactions from the paddock to the qualifying session at the Sachsenring

Jens Klingmann (#20 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3), pole position for Race 2: "This weekend is the first time I've driven on Yokohama tyres. Although I was given some useful advice on the tyres by my team-mates, I was quite wary going into qualifying, because I didn't quite know what to expect. Consequently, I went out onto the track relatively early in order to at least set a time. The yellow flags were out on my first two laps, but then on the third time of asking, everything went beautifully. Getting pole position in what may be my one and only outing in the ADAC GT Masters this year is not at all bad."

Christopher Mies: (#27 Prosperia C. Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), pole position for Race 1: "My qualifying was good, but I didn't manage to combine all my fastest sector times in one single lap. Otherwise, my qualifying time would certainly have been even faster. It's a highly competitive field, but my pole and René Rast's P2 on Sunday's grid are a great launch pad for both races."

Max Sandritter (#20 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3), P3 for Race 1: "Third place is a great result, but we could maybe have done even better. With me starting from third and Jens Klingmann on pole, however, this is a great team result. I'm getting on better with the BMW Z4 and am now learning how to make better use of the downforce which the car develops on the fast corners."

Dominik Schwager (#14 Lambda Performance, Ford GT), P16 for Race 2: "After I set a best time in the first free practice session on used tyres, we were all very satisfied. But then, when we changed to new tyres for the second free practice and qualifying, nothing seemed to go right any more and the car was almost impossible to control. We were significantly slower on new tyres than we had been on used - there is no logical explanation for this. We are now checking the whole car again to rule out the possibility that this is where the fault lies."

Nicolas Armindo (#4 Team Geyer & Weinig EDV / Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P5 for Race 2: "I'm not happy with fifth position, because today we could quite clearly have challenged for pole position. On my fastest lap, a BMW suddenly emerged from the pit lane and ruined it. That lap would have been good enough to put me on pole."
