Frank Kechele (#14 Lambda Performance, Ford GT), winner: "Nico is the perfect partner to work with, and I hope this won't be our last victory of this season. The team were practising pit stops until late into the night yesterday, because we've got three new people on the crew for this weekend. One memorable moment in the race came when I was looking for wet patches on the track to cool down the tyres. I spread my search a bit too wide and went into a spin, but fortunately I didn't collide with anybody or anything. After that, I was able to control the race right through to the finish line."
Nico Verdonck (#14 Lambda Performance, Ford GT), winner: "It feels great to have won. Starting from pole certainly made life a lot easier for me today, but you still have to make sure you actually finish. The car was fantastic in both the wet and the dry, and the team performed extremely well on the pit stop. After that, Frank was very good in the second half of the race. We're relieved to have won and I'm very pleased for the team, because everyone has worked so hard over the winter.
Jeroen den Boer (#12 DB Motorsport, BMW Z4 GT3), P3: "That was a super race. After having problems in the rain at Oschersleben, we weren't feeling too confident going into this race. But the day turned out well. We were overtaken by a Mercedes on the pit stop. But after that, the gap to the car in front and the car behind was relatively big, so I had a fairly relaxed race from then on."
Simon Knap: (#12 DB Motorsport, BMW Z4 GT4), P3: "The last couple of laps on slicks just before the pit stop were very difficult on the wet track. The pit stop was fairly OK. Although we lost one place to the Mercedes, we're still happy with our result."
Maximilian Götz (#10 Polarweiss Racing, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3), P2: "A wonderful result for Polarweiss Racing. The bottom line for us here was to at least finish on the podium. The fact that we managed this is down to the great work done by our crew on the pit stop. On the second stint, I was able to drive a controlled race, concentrating on not letting the pursuing cars get any closer, but by that time, the Ford was long gone. Second place is a vindication of our performance: we have at last been able to convert our speed into a decent result."
Maximilian Buhk (#10 Polarweiss Racing, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3), P2: "Things were going quite well until it started to rain, even though I hadn't been able to stay in touch with the race leader. But having slicks on in wet conditions, the only thing that mattered was staying on track. We then did everything right on our pit stop."
René Bourdeaux (#9 Tonino powered by Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), winner in Gentlemen classification: "My race went brilliantly. I started from quite far back, but I promptly made good several positions. Then the rain came - first light drizzle followed by a real downpour - and I was just willing the pit stop window to open, because the conditions out there on slicks were criminal."
Paul Green (#47 Vita4One Racing Team, BMW Z4 GT3), P21, runner-up in Gentlemen class: "My first ADAC GT Masters race went much better than I had expected, although the conditions didn't exactly help. I can't be totally satisfied, however, as I went for a spin on Lap 1, although I at least managed to catch the field up again."
Martin Ragginger (#8 Tonino powered by Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P9: "We messed up on our pit stop. It took 1 minute 43 to make the changeover, which was far too long. That's why ninth was the best we could manage today."
Lennart Marioneck (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P27: "I spun round on my outlap at Raidallion and suffered some minor collision damage. After that, I took things a bit easier, because by that time we were already one lap down anyway as a result of Remo Lips having to pit early in his stint to get dirt removed from the radiator."
Dominik Baumann (#19 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3), P7: "We were able to hold our own in the race but not to attack. As a rule, it's not easy to overtake on this high-speed circuit. When the pit stop came round, we waited ten seconds too long before release because we had misinterpreted the regulations. I didn't exactly manage the wet conditions very well during the second half of the race. I'm hoping it will be dry on Sunday. If so, we should get a better result, because P5 on the grid is a good launch pad.
Diego Alessi (#2 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3); P8: "The 30 kilos that we're having to carry here after winning at Oschersleben are making life difficult for us. It was fine in qualifying, but the extra weight made itself felt in the race itself, especially with a full tank of fuel.
Sebastian Asch (#1 MS RACING, Audi R8 LMS ultra), P11: "The start was OK, but after five laps, the setup was no longer suitable. We must improve our basic setup; at the moment, we're half a second slower than we should be. Even so, we should have finished amongst the points today. We're going to have a much tougher job tomorrow starting from 20th."
