Dominik Baumann (#19 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3), winner: "At the start of the race, I tried to stay on the inside, and much to my surprise, I found myself in second position coming out of Turn 1. I realised right away that our car was going to be good today and that we were in contention for a podium. The car performed brilliantly in these mixed conditions. We also had a bit of luck when Max Buhk made a braking error, because otherwise it would have been very difficult to get past the Mercedes using legal tactics."
Claudia Hürtgen (#19 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3), winner: "The decisive factor was that the track dried out. Especially in the second sector, I was a lot quicker than the Mercedes. I realised that I could go faster and just knew that I was going to overtake. I never expected to get past quite so soon, but Buhk made a slight error, so I immediately pounced and took advantage. As the track dried out, I was able to increase my speed. Also, I didn't make any mistakes myself, and that was the key to success."
Maximilian Götz (#10 Polarweiss Racing, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3), P2: "I was lucky at the start and took the lead, but unfortunately, the accident happened soon after. Following the restart, I was able to build up a decent lead, but then we weren't sure whether we should switch to slicks or stay on the wet weather tyres. We didn't change anything, and that turned out to be the right decision. Two P2 finishes on the same weekend is a top-class result."
Maximilian Buhk (#10 Polarweiss Racing, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3), P2: "What an eventful race that was! I made one small mistake, but even so, I'm well satisfied. The track drying out made our car difficult to drive. Claudia Hürtgen had the better car. I defended my position, but it was clear to me that I wouldn't be able to hold off the BMW."
Jeroen den Boer: (#12 DB Motorsport, BMW Z4 GT3), P3: "The start was fairly chaotic, as visibility was very poor. After the restart, I was able to match the leaders for pace, but this result was the best we were going to get, because the rain tyres were giving us less grip than yesterday. Today's third-place finish was very hard work."
Simon Knap (#12 DB Motorsport, BMW Z4 GT3), P3: "Our pit stop was very good. At one point, I had a bit of a scare because Verdonck was just ahead of me, and on slicks, he was very slow coming out of Eau Rouge. But then I managed to overtake a Porsche, and from that point onwards, I had a relatively relaxed race."
Paul Green (#47 Vita4One, BMW Z4 GT3), P12, winner in Gentlemen class: "I tried to push right from the start, and that was very effective. Towards the end of my stint, the situation with the tyres was becoming critical, but it worked out all right anyway, and I was able to pass Christina Nielsen just before Fagnes on the final lap. I certainly never expected a runner-up and a winner's trophy in the amateur class this weekend."
Jonas Giesler (#47 Vita4One, BMW Z4 GT3), P12: "My start was reasonable enough. I managed to stay out of all the scraps going on around me. Things then got a bit tight on Eau Rouge and I had to yield a couple of positions. With the long safety car phase, my race turned out to be rather uneventful."
Toni Seiler: (#18 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P15, third in Gentlemen class: "Unfortunately, we had a few problems this weekend. Consequently, it took me quite a while to make the mental adjustment to the track, because it's been seven years since I last drove here. We made a few adjustments to the rear axle for today's race, and that helped me to feel more comfortable with the car."
Niclas Kentenich (#18 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P15: "Unfortunately, I didn't get much driving in this weekend, and also I was rather unfamiliar with the track. We had a few problems with the car on Friday and Saturday but managed to iron them out in time for the second race. Now I'm hoping that we can do some more testing before the Sachsenring weekend so that I can get more experience of driving the car."
Allan Simonsen (#5 Farnbacher Racing, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P13: "The race went really well for me, and I handed the Porsche to Christina in fifth or sixth place. But unfortunately, our pit stop was a disaster. It cost us 16 seconds and also victory in the Gentlemen class for Christina."
Martin Ragginger (#8 Tonino by Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P5: "At the start of the race, Kechele braked late and moved across to the outside. I then had to give him a wide berth and lost a few places. This meant that we had turned a good start position into a bad one. I managed to keep up quite well with the Schubert BMW. When it dried out a bit, we had some problems with our Porsche."
Daniel Keilwitz: (#2 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P14: "The track was drying out as we followed the safety car, so we decided to switch to slicks. But that turned out to be the wrong decision. Although we were the fastest car out there over the last few laps, by that time, we were much too far behind."
