Two days after the ADAC GT Masters penultimate race, the 'semi-finals' of the 2013 season, an important date is now pencilled in on the calendars of ADAC GT Masters defending champions Maximilian Buhk and Maximilian Götz. The pair currently lead the standings in the Mercedes-Benz after ten of 16 races in total, and Mercedes-Benz has now invited the two Polarweiss Racing drivers to test the DTM C-Class at the Lausitzring on 17th September. This test is also a reward for their victory at the 24 Hours of Spa this July in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, along with DTM record-breaking champion Bernd Schneider.
Maximilian Buhk and Maximilian Götz were also very successful last year. Buhk was crowned FIA GT3 European Champion in a racing Gullwing, and Götz won the ADAC GT Masters title in a SLS AMG GT3. On 17th September 2013, as a reward for their success in GT3 customer sports, Buhk and Götz will have the chance to test a DTM Mercedes AMG C-Class at the Lausitzring and get their first taste of the DTM.
"I'm delighted that Mercedes-AMG and HWA are prepared to give me a drive in a DTM car," says Buhk. "I'm very excited about my outing in the DTM Mercedes AMG C-Class and will try to get as much as possible out of this opportunity." Götz too is looking forward to the forthcoming DTM test at the Lausitzring. "The whole thing means a great deal to me," he says. "Mercedes AMG has made one of my big dreams come true with this test. I cannot wait to get behind the wheel of a DTM car at the circuit there."
Uli Fritz, Head of AMG Customer Sports: "For the first time ever, we are pleased to offer two young drivers from the AMG customer sports car scene, Maximilian Buhk and Maximilian Götz, the chance to test a DTM car. They proved last year that they are capable of achieving great things in the SLS AMG GT3, and now we want to see just how competitive they are in the DTM Mercedes AMG C-Class. This test shows what great opportunities are open to young, successful drivers in AMG customer sports."
Toto Wolff, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport: "Maximilian Buhk, Maximilian Götz and all of our Mercedes AMG customer racing teams have performed fantastically well this year. So far, The SLS AMG GT3 has won every GT3 long distance classic and Bernd Schneider was at the wheel of one of the cars in all of the victories. Congratulations to everyone in the team for their superb performance! Mercedes-Benz has a long tradition of bringing on young drivers in motor racing - from Formula 3 and on to Formula 1 via the DTM. We also take note of how drivers in the customer sport segment perform. With their success in the SLS AMG GT3, the two Maximilians have demonstrated their talent and ability against strong competition and shown that they are ready for further challenges. We have already shown this year with our DTM driver line-up that we are prepared to put our faith in young, fast drivers - an approach that is proving successful in this current DTM season in the form of podium finishes. The two Maximilians fully deserve to be rewarded with this DTM test in view of their outstanding performance in the racing Gullwing."
