Fach Auto Tech excel in desert marathon: Swiss ADAC GT Masters team wins amateur category in 24h Dubai

The season got off to an early start for some drivers and teams from the ADAC GT Masters when four teams and a dozen drivers from last year´s ADAC GT Masters took the opportunity to warm up for the 2013 season at the 24 hours of Dubai. Fach Auto Tech from Switzerland was the most successful team in this endeavour, and the team that won the amateur standings in the 2012 ADAC GT Masters - Martin Ragginger, Jens Richter, Otto Klohs and Carlo Lusser - emerged victorious in the GT3 amateur class and finished in fourth place overall, missing a podium by only 56 seconds after 24 hours of racing.

Sixth place overall and third position in the amateur category went to the second Fach Porsche with Swiss drivers Fleischer/Wagner/Arnold/Bruder/Zolin at the wheel, rounding off a solid performance by the Swiss. The Fach Porsche that the five-strong team brought home in sixth place should be very familiar to fans of the ADAC GT Masters; last season, Swen Dolenc secured the championship in the amateur standings of the ADAC GT Masters in the red and white 911. Faultless work in the pits was another of the key elements behind Fach Auto Tech´s success in Saudi Arabia; the two Fach Porsche 911s were turned around quicker than any of the other 80 vehicles that made up this large field.

"Both cars finished, achieving superb results," said delighted team boss Alex Fach after the race. "It was a terrific event that went like clockwork for us, and everyone enjoyed some success. For sure, in the final few hours of the race, we even dared hope for a podium finish in the overall standings, but still, we are over the moon with a win and a third place in the amateur classification. I would like to thank all members of the team. You have done an amazing job!"

However, Schubert Motorsport had a spot of bad luck when their two BMW Z4 GT3s, driven by Claudia Hürtgen, Dominik Schwager and Dominik Baumann inter al, were forced to retire. MRS GT Racing were also unlucky, since their McLaren MP4 12C GT3s also had to drop out after two no-fault accidents.

Victory in this eighth 24-hour marathon race to be held in the Middle East went to Jeroen Bleekemolen, Sean Edwards, DTM record-breaking champion Bernd Schneider and Khaled Al Qubaisi in the Black Falcon Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.
