Götz/Buhk secure top spot for Mercedes SLS AMG : Mercedes-Benz leads in second practice session at Oschersleben

The defending champion was ready for the challenge in the second practice session at the season-opener of the ADAC GT Masters in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Fastest time in the 60-minute second practice went to ADAC GT Masters champion Maximilian Götz and Maximilian Buhk in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 (Polarweiss Racing). The two Mercedes-Benz drivers took the lead at the very end of the session on the final lap, beating the BMW Z4 GT3 of Dominik Baumann and Claudia Hürtgen (PIXUM Team Schubert) by nearly 0.115 seconds. With temperatures of 25 degrees and almost cloudless skies, times in the second session were somewhat slower than in the cooler first session during the morning.

Coming home barely 0.009 seconds behind the BMW Z4 GT3, Christer Jöns and Christian Mamerow in the Audi R8 LMS ultra (Prosperia C. Abt Racing) set the third fastest lap ahead of the second Mercedes-Benz of Andreas Simonsen/Sergey Afanasiev prepared by Polarweiss Racing.

Sebastian Asch, who was last year´s ADAC GT Masters champion along with Götz, is getting to grips with his new Audi R8 LMS ultra; Asch and team-mate Florian Stoll achieved the fifth fastest time. Mario Farnbacher and ADAC GT Masters newcomer Philip Frommenwiler (Farnbacher Racing) in the fastest Porsche 911 GT3 R took sixth place from the Audi R8 LMS ultra of Christopher Mies/René Rast.

Fastest pair from first practice Martin Ragginger and Robert Renauer (Tonino, powered by Herberth Motorsport) placed tenth in the Porsche 911 GT3 R. Rahel Frey and Markus Winkelhock were just 0.006 seconds behind them, missing the Top Ten by a whisker on their first weekend together in the Audi R8 LMS ultra (Prosperia C. Abt Racing).
