Aided by DTM record-breaking champion Bernd Schneider, ADAC GT Masters drivers Maximilian Götz and Maximilian Buhk emerged victorious in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. After 564 laps of the Ardennes rollercoaster, Götz/Buhk/Schneider triumphed at the 65th running of the 24 Hours of Spa in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 fielded by HTP Motorsport, the race team that goes by the name of Polarweiss Racing in the ADAC GT Masters. They crossed the finish line one lap up on the Porsche 911 GT3 prepared by Manthey Racing with drivers Marc Lieb, Richard Lietz and Patrick Pilet. ADAC GT Masters championship leader Christopher Mies secured third place in an Audi R8 LMS ultra together with André Lotterer and Frank Stippler. Christopher Haase, former DTM driver Oliver Jarvis and Harold Primat were fourth in an Audi and just missed joining the party on the podium by a small margin.
This victory was the first in a 24-hour race for ADAC GT Masters defending champion Maximilian Götz and FIA GT3 European champion Maximilian Buhk and constitutes one of the greatest successes of their careers. The two team-mates, who race the Polarweiss Racing Mercedes-Benz in the ADAC GT Masters, were debuting in the 24 Hours of Spa and, along with Schneider, won through against strong competition from 65 other racing cars at the first attempt.
Robert Renauer and Nicolas Armindo in a Porsche 911, assisted by two French co-drivers, also took the chequered flag at Spa to achieve sixth place in their class. ADAC GT Masters defending champion Sebastian Asch and Martin Ragginger placed ninth in a Porsche 911 and were aided by Otto Klohs/Jens Richter. Andreas Simonsen/Sergey Afanasiev crossed the finish line in eleventh position in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.
