MS RACING back at the top: Defending champion Sebastian Asch and Florian Stoll (Audi) set fastest time

MS RACING are back at the top of the ADAC GT Masters. Reigning champion Sebastian Asch and co-driver Florian Stoll set a best time of 01:21.424 minutes in the Friday morning practice session at the Lausitzring in their Audi R8 LMS ultra. For MS RACING, who are the defending champions in the ADAC GT Masters team standings, this was the first time they have topped the timesheets since switching to the Audi R8 LMS Ultra for the 2013 season. The first free practice session gave a foretaste of what should be an exciting weekend, with the 16 fastest super sports cars all within just a second of each other.

Only 0.076 seconds behind the Audi of Asch and Stoll were the current leaders Maximilian Buhk and Maximilian Götz in their Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 (Polarweiss Racing). For much of the morning, the lead alternated between two Porsche 911 GT3 Rs, one driven by Martin Ragginger and Robert Renauer (Tonino by Herberth Motorsport) and the other by Christina Nielsen and ADAC GT Masters returnee Nick Tandy (Farnbacher Racing). Fourth in the table and winners of two races so far, René Rast and Christopher Mies in an Audi R8 LMS ultra (Prosperia C Abt Racing) finished the morning in P5, just ahead of Aditya Patel and Daniel Dobitsch in the second Audi R8 LMS entered by MS RACING.

Markus Winkelhock and Christer Jöns in a Prosperia C Abt Audi R8 LMS were placed seventh ahead of the two Porsche 911 GT3 Rs driven by Mario Farnbacher and Philip Frommenwiler (Farnbacher Racing) and by the current leader in the Gentlemen stakes René Bourdeaux and partner Alfred Renauer (Tonino by Herberth Motorsport). Last year's winners at the Lausitzring, Christian Engelhart and Nicolas Armindo, rounded off the Top Ten in a Porsche 911 entered by Team Geyer & Wenig EDP - Schütz Motorsport.
