ADAC GT Masters·15.4.2013

Notes from the ADAC GT Masters Test Day: Reporting on the ADAC GT Masters test sessions at the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben

Team Tonino by Herberth Motorsport arrived at the venue near Magdeburg with their two Porsche 911 GT3 Rs. On Day 1, Robert Renauer and René Bourdeaux put one of the Porsches through its paces; the second brand new model - still without a scratch or a mark on it - got its maiden run-out 24 hours later.

Lambda Performance were making the most of their first proper chance to check out the newly developed Ford GT. Taking turns behind the wheel of the American flatfish were Nico Verdonck, Dominik Schwager, Frank Kechele and Alex Müller. Which of these four eventually gets to drive the Ford GT in the ADAC GT Masters is yet to be decided.

On the first of the two days, ADAC Stiftung Sport protégé Lennart Marioneck, who last year competed in the ADAC PROCAR series for German touring cars, was given the job of testing the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 prepared by Seyffarth Motorsport. For 24-year old Marioneck, this was his second big opportunity to show his mettle in a GT sports car, having already tested a Callaway Corvette in the autumn.

Christian Engelhart was booked for a single stint on Wednesday and travelled overnight from Barcelona to Oschersleben. While Engelhart was busy on Tuesday testing in Spain for the Porsche Supercup, Nicolas Armindo had the Team Geyer & Weinig EDV-Unternehmensberatung // Schütz Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R all to himself.

Team rhino's Leipert Motorsport will be entering two new Lamborghini Gallardo FL2s in the ADAC GT Masters. As the new Lambos were not ready in time for the Oschersleben test days, Eduard Leganov and Fabian Hamprecht were out on track practising with the familiar Gallardo LP600+.

It is quite unusual to come away from a test session with pictures of race starts. The photographers were in luck this time, however, as the start procedure was practised twice on Wednesday.

None of the four test sessions had to be interrupted. Apart from the occasional excursion across grass and/or gravel, the tests ran to schedule and without any prangs.

MS RACING are preparing meticulously for the forthcoming ADAC GT Masters season. The defending team champions were even rehearsing stop-and-go penalties on Wednesday afternoon, just in case.

Daniel Dobitsch and ADAC GT Masters newcomer Aditya Patel practised a champagne celebration at Oschersleben with their Audi R8 LMS ultra. The orange-coloured supercar is the 100th unit to have come off the assembly line for the racing version of the R8. So before taking it out for its first ever drive, the team 'christened' it with a bottle of bubbly.
