- The win scored by Nico Verdonck and Frank Kechele ended a five year barren spell for Ford GT in the ADAC GT Masters. The last victory for the American muscle car went to Kenneth Heyer and Marc Hennerici in the 2008 season opener at Oschersleben.
- Nico Verdonck, Frank Kechele and Dominik Baumann each celebrated a maiden ADAC GT Masters race victory last weekend.
- Claudia Hürtgen won her fourth ADAC GT Masters race; and for once, she didn't store it up until the last race weekend of the season.
- Ex-ADAC GT Masters team boss Bernhard Mühlner attended the ADAC GT Masters weekend at Spa on both Saturday and Sunday. Mühlner, who is heavily involved this year in the American motor racing scene, had only a short journey. The Mühlner Motorsport garage and workshop is just around the corner from the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
- Mühlner would have no objection to his team making a comeback in the ADAC GT Masters: "We still have a race-ready Porsche 911 GT3 R in the garage, and we are happy to be approached at any time by potential drivers."
- Next weekend's ADAC Zurich 24-hour endurance race at the Nürburgring has attracted entries from quite a few drivers currently active in the ADAC GT Masters, plus three familiar teams: Farnbacher Racing, Schubert Motorsport and Prosperia C Abt Racing.
- A third generation of Bergmeisters is getting ready to make its mark in the world of motor racing: Jakob Bergmeister, son of 2008 ADAC GT Masters champion Tim Bergmeister, competed in his first kart race on Sunday.
- Spa-Francorchamps has now displaced the Red Bull Ring from its perch as the fastest track on the ADAC GT Masters calendar. The average lap in Belgium was almost 10km/h faster than in Austria. Even so, the Red Bull Ring still holds on to the record for having staged the fastest ADAC GT Masters race, namely Race 2 in the 2011 season won by Johannes und Ferdinand Stuck. That's because the wet conditions at the Belgian track meant the drivers were unable to hit their top speed in either race.
- Frank Kechele is once again the fastest man in the ADAC GT Masters: in qualifying for the second race, the 26-year-old Ford GT driver posted the fastest average time over a single lap ever measured on an ADAC GT Masters weekend. Kechele already held the record between 2008 and 2011 before it was broken first by Thomas Jäger and then by Philip Eng.
- The Vita4One mechanics must have felt like pop celebrities last weekend. The BMW team's accommodation in the Spa-Francorchamps paddock was a Nightliner with 16 beds - the sort of transport that is normally reserved for pop groups on tour.
- Fischer Racing sat out the ADAC GT Masters excursion to Belgium, but they plan to be back for the next race at the Sachsenring with their Aston Martin V12 Vantage. Last year, the Paderborn-based outfit notched up a win at the circuit in Saxony.
- For Charles Putman and Charles Espenlaub (Prospeed Competition), this was the second weekend in a row that they were competing at Spa-Francorchamps. One week earlier, the two Americans contested the Benelux Porsche Carrera Cup. "We make full use of our appearances here to prepare for the best long distance race of them all, namely the 25h Fun Cup which takes place here in mid-July," said Putman with a grin.
- Audi specialists Prosperia C Abt Racing are spreading their wings: the Prosperia Aviation Academy now trains commercial pilots.
- As usual, Vita4One made a thoroughly professional impression, not least with their use of wall partitions around their box, setting new standards in the ADAC GT Masters.
- Allan Simonsen (now resident in Monaco) appeared on the podium for the second weekend in succession. Together with Danish co-driver Christina Nielsen, he finished third and second in the Gentlemen class; the weekend before, he had been runner-up in the GTE Am class of the FIA world endurance championship driving an Aston Martin.
