TONINO by Herberth aids kindergarten: Porsche team supports flood victims in Saxony

On their way from Bavaria to the next ADAC GT Masters race weekend at the Lausitzring, the TONINO by Herberth Motorsport team made a detour via Chemnitz. Team Manager Alexander Weinhart visited the municipal nursery to hand over a cheque for 3,000 euros. The money was collected during the Sachsenring race weekend as part of a fundraising scheme for flood victims in Saxony.

The team based at Icking near Munich had set up a photo booth in the ADAC GT Masters paddock. Every time a member of the public paid for a photo, TONINO and partners PRECOTE each donated one euro. "The final amount came to 3,000 euros, and we wanted to use the funds for the benefit of an institution in the region," said Alexander Weinhart. "The choice fell on the Sonnenschein day nursery, because the structure of the building had been so heavily damaged during the floods in June."

Day-care centre director Karin Schröter has earmarked the funds for the reconstruction of the kitchen: "Our children were always able to cook their own food, which was something they really enjoyed doing. Unfortunately, the kitchen floor was completely inundated and everything was destroyed." She never would have expected to receive this offer of help from within the ADAC GT Masters: "It has come as a very pleasant surprise that a motor racing team should support us in this way. We would like to thank everyone in the team for organising this highly successful fundraising event."

When the next two races in the Super Sports Car League are broadcast this Saturday and Sunday, the TONINO drivers can count on support from a new set of fans. "We'll all be all sitting in front of the TV and cheering them on," says a smiling Karin Schröter.
