Mission accomplished: All Stars Team Urbat secured victory to retain their title in the 24 Hours of Cologne, Germany´s most prestigious karting endurance event now into its 16th year. The winning team included drivers from the ADAC GT Masters series (reigning champion Maximilian Götz, Christopher Mies and Christopher Brück) as well as from the DTM (record championship winner Bernd Schneider and twice champion Timo Scheider).
After no fewer than 3,725 laps of the Kartcenter Cologne, the team featuring the ADAC GT Masters drivers prevailed in one of the tightest finishes in the history of the 24-hour kart race. This was the eleventh time that Bernd Schneider and local favourite Christopher Brück have claimed victory in Cologne.
"Obviously, we´re absolutely delighted by this win," says Christopher Brück, who not only took pole position but also notched up the fastest lap for his team. "The race was incredibly exciting and nerve-wracking. The Wertgrund Team were very competitive over the complete distance, and they didn´t exactly make things easy for us." Audi DTM driver Timo Scheider was visibly pleased: "That was tremendous fun. The standard of performance in Cologne is unbelievably high - we were under pressure right up to the end. I´d like to take this opportunity to thank my fellow drivers and our two team bosses."
Also having cause for satisfaction were 2011 Formel ADAC champion Pascal Wehrlein, Sven Müller and Jason Kremer who came third as members of the Formula 3 team.
