YACO Racing recruit Dino Lunardi to drive their Au: 2011 ADAC GT Masters champion to partner Philip Geipel

With only days to go before the start of their second ADAC GT Masters campaign, THE BOSS YACO Racing have changed not only their mode of transport but also its crew. After contesting last year´s series with a Chevrolet Camaro GT, the Plauen-based outfit have switched to an Audi R8 MS Ultra. And in the run-up to the season opener this weekend at the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, team boss Uwe Geipel has once again changed the driver line-up: Philip Geipel will no longer have his younger brother Charlie as co-driver but Frenchman Dino Lunardi who won the ADAC GT Masters title in 2011.

"Charlie is still suffering from the after-effects of a sports injury, which meant he also had to miss out on the end of the previous season," explains Uwe Geipel. "Unfortunately, the doctors have advised him against competing at this early stage of the campaign. Consequently, we had to look for a replacement at short notice. In Dino Lunardi, I think we have found not only a fast driver but also someone who knows the Audi really well from driving it in several other series. His background will be a great help to us, especially in these first few races."

Philip Geipel agrees: "Dino has a lot of experience with the Audi R8, which we hope to use to our advantage. I´m delighted to be partnering Dino. As well as being a top driver, he´s good company and he won last year´s ADAC GT Masters season opener at Oschersleben. For me and the team, the Audi R8 is completely new territory. What´s more, when Friday comes round at Oschersleben, it will be the first time this year that I´ve sat in a racing car. We took delivery of the Audi only last week and haven´t had an opportunity to do any more testing, so it´s really good to have a driver of Dino´s standing backing you up. I´ll be going all out to reach Dino´s level of speed."
