ADAC GT Masters: Comments after the race: Observations after Sunday's ADAC GT Masters race at the Slovakia Ring

Andreas Wirth (#1 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), winner: "A win was long overdue. I'm partnering Daniel for the entire second half of the season, and that was a perfect way to start. It was an awesome race. I didn't take too many risks in the second stint after all Daniel's good work; you have to be careful about tyre usage over the distance in view of the very hot temperatures, but we managed that aspect very well."

Daniel Keilwitz (#1 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), winner: "A perfect race for us - that was enough to get me back into the title chase. I had a clear run in the first half of the race after the second lap and was able to draw away easily. It was tight again after the safety car period, but Andreas had everything under control."

Albert von Thurn und Taxis (#24 Reiter Engineering, Chevrolet Camaro GT), P2: "This result is incredible. Going into the weekend, we were thinking that anywhere between P5 and P10 would have been like winning the jackpot for us. We had already established during the tests that this track didn't offer much scope. But it also goes to show how much you can benefit from testing here - you can't work everything out from sitting at home in front of a computer. This weekend showed clearly who had done their preparations on this circuit and who hadn't."

Tomas Enge (#24 Reiter Engineering, Chevrolet Camaro GT), P2: "We are constantly improving ourselves and our Camaro - we learn more with every race we contest. Everyone was expecting us to do well at the Red Bull Ring because we have such a powerful engine. But it became apparent there that we are also fast on the corners. This encouraged us to think that we might be capable of a Top Ten finish here. But we never thought we could be competing for the win. The car now performs well on high-speed corners and on the more technically complicated tracks. We beat everyone else but the Corvette today, and as everyone knows, the ADAC GT Masters is a highly competitive series."

Claudia Hürtgen (#20 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3), P3: "That was a super result. We had a bit of luck with the drive-through penalties for Klingmann and Rast, and we were up to P3 following the pit stop. I concentrated on nursing the car to the finish, as it was getting hard to drive. The safety car period made the situation very tense, but fortunately I was able to take the car through to the finish in third."

Dominik Baumann (#20 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3), P3: "We're now on top of the standings, and we'd like to be still there at the end of the season. I lost a few positions at the start of the race, but then we were able to battle our way back towards the front. It was a super weekend, and we scored a lot of points."

Remo Lips (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), winner in Gentlemen class: "I'm very pleased about winning our class but disappointed to have missed out on the Top Ten by finishing eleventh. Just for once, I would like to score a point in the overall classification. That was a quiet race as races go - I had plenty of leeway in front and behind. It got a bit tight after the restart, though."

Wolf Nathan (#4 GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P3 in Gentlemen class: "That was by no means an easy race. The car was good, but I'm still having problems getting to know this track. After our retirement in Race 1, we were relieved to have scored some decent points today. I'm now looking forward to the race at the Nürburgring - that's a track I'm much more familiar with."

Anton Wossos (#4 GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P3 in Gentlemen class: "All I had to do in the second half of the race was bring the car across the finish line. The safety car period was like one long break."

Robert Renauer (#7 TONINO Team Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P15: "There wasn't a lot we could do today against the Corvette. P2 was the maximum we could manage this weekend."

Herbert Handlos (#7 TONINO Team Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P2 in Gentlemen class: "We unfortunately had a little mishap in the pits and were too fast, which resulted in a penalty. Otherwise, we might still have been able to put pressure on Remo Lips in the second half of the race and force him to make a mistake. Two second places this weekend was not what we were aiming for."

Lennart Marioneck (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P11: "My start was good, but then I got stuck between two Audis who did a pincer movement on me. The car was not so good after that. I also had a spin, which annoyed me greatly. Remo made sure of the class win, though."

Luca Ludwig (#21 BKK MOBIL OIL Zakspeed, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), P7: "The race was extremely exciting. We unfortunately lost three places during the pit stop when the ignition suddenly failed and I had to reboot the electrics. On the final lap, I then had a scrap with a ROWE Mercedes which I consider to have been unfair because he left me with nowhere to go on the first corner and pushed me to the very outside of the track."

Florian Spengler (#14 MRS GT Racing, McLaren 12C), P14: "The heat appears to have played havoc with our car this weekend. We had a problem with overheating in the last race too; the car probably loses power in this heat. In this morning's warm-up when temperatures were cooler, we were four seconds faster than in yesterday's race on the same set of tyres, which speaks volumes."
