Jaap van Lagen (#3 GW IT Racing Team // Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), winner: "Two victories in my home race - that's just incredible. In really difficult conditions this weekend, we had a perfectly balanced car, plus of course the necessary element of luck. In the first stint, I really benefited from my familiarity with the track, which helped me to take a different racing line through the wet than the opposition. That's what enabled me to go past René Rast and take the lead. It was a fabulous passing move, and he conducted himself very fairly."
Kévin Estre (#3 GW IT Racing Team // Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), winner: "Jaap did a fantastic job in the first half of the race and handed over the Porsche in the lead. On my first few laps, I was probably too cautious, which allowed the Audis to get a bit closer. The team told me that my lead was getting smaller, so then I pushed harder and opened up the gap again. It was a more straightforward race than yesterday, because all I had to do was manage my pace over the final phase, and also I didn't have any attacking to do."
Kelvin van der Linde (#10 Prosperia C Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), second: "Our strong start to the season has continued here. When we were in second position, we concentrated on managing the gap to the leading Porsche and the Audi just behind us. Although we have now been knocked off the top of the championship table, we are still well placed. The GT drivers in this series are amongst the best in the world. I've enjoyed competing in this championship so far."
Fabian Hamprecht (#11 Prosperia C Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), third: "Today's race was a lot of fun. I had a bit of a scrap with Kelvin, but as team-mates, it was obvious that we weren't going to contest the position too fiercely. I looked in my mirrors and couldn't see anyone behind, which meant that I was able to complete the race without any pressure and score some useful points."
René Rast (#10 Prosperia C Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), second: "I got off to a good start and was building a decent lead. Then the track got a bit drier and the air pressure in my tyres began to rise. This allowed the Porsche to catch up and eventually overtake."
Daniel Keilwitz (#1 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P9: "It was very, very difficult out there, especially at the start of the race with all that water on the surface. Once you start aquaplaning, it becomes quite dangerous. As the amount of standing water got less, that didn't make it any easier - in fact, just the opposite. We were half a second off the pace in the dry, and in the wet, this increased to more than two seconds. I'm not giving up hope, though, because the tracks that suit our car are still to come."
Maximilian Götz (#26 HTP Motorsport, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), sixth: "It was slippery out there, and there were places where we were aquaplaning quite severely - it was important to know precisely where the water was flowing over the surface. Those were very challenging conditions. Driving was difficult and we were right on the limit all the time - I don't think we could have finished any higher than sixth today. The main thing is that we scored some points, and after having such bad luck in qualifying, this result represents a degree of damage limitation."
Dominik Baumann (#19 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3), P5: "Conditions were extreme. We were very strong whenever there was not too much water on the track, but we were struggling once the rain got heavier. That's how it was on Saturday especially. Claudia moved up the field to start with while the track was not too wet. But then subsequently, I could only defend my position as the rain really began to come down. I'm very satisfied with our points haul. But competing against Porsche and Audi is hard as things stand currently with the balance of performance."
Max Sandritter (#20 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3), P7: "Twice in the points, well, that's a start. Whilst we are not yet where we want to be, the car is running well. On Saturday, I was, of course, annoyed at first that I had to start from the pit lane, but playing catch-up was a lot of fun. Some of the scraps were quite special. Track conditions were much more difficult on Sunday. There was a lot of aquaplaning, which caused my spin. Fortunately, there were no major consequences."
Herbert Handlos (#7 TONINO Team Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), winner Gentlemen class:"The car worked very well in today's race, but this track doesn't really suit us. Our team-mates were especially quick today, and I'm glad that Alfred is my team-mate. Now we can hardly wait for the races at the Lausitzring and at the Red Bull Ring. These are tracks that are more to our taste, and that I know well, unlike Oschersleben and Zandvoort."
Alfred Renauer (#7 TONINO Team Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P14: "A good weekend for us. We had a relatively easy race today. There was no one putting pressure on me from behind after a few laps, and visibility also improved. Things then got tougher for the second-stint drivers today, though, as the rainfall increased."
Florian Scholze (#9 TONINO Team Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P16, second in Gentlemen class: "I closed on Herbert Handlos shortly before the end of the race. Unfortunately, I spun whilst in hot pursuit. Still, it was a good day for me today despite the spin."
Dominic Jöst (#9 TONINO Team Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P16, second in Gentlemen class: "The weekend went very well for us all in all. It was hard for me at the start, though, because the windows were fogged up on the inside. I could barely see a thing. It's a shame that we had that little skid off track towards the end, otherwise the top rung on the podium in the Gentlemen class would have been ours. Maybe we can now achieve our first win at the Lausitzring."
Remo Lips (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), third in Gentlemen class: "It was nice to bring the car home safely after our bad luck of late. It was a step forward compared to the last race and I'm pleased to be back on the podium."
Lennart Marioneck (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P18: "All in all, it was quite difficult with our car this weekend in the rain and I personally struggled a bit, because I'm still lacking experience in the wet. There was really nothing to choose between Porsche and Audi today."
