ADAC GT Masters: Comments after the race: Reactions from the paddock after the race at the Nürburgring

Sven Barth (#13 RWT Racing Team, Corvette Z06.R GT3), Winner: "I was stuck in third gear in the final chicane but managed to make it to the finish line, luckily. I nursed my tyres in the final part of the race and maintained the distance between myself and those in hot pursuit. I only needed to control the lead that I´d built up and nurse the car. We think this win is just incredible."

David Jahn (#13 RWT Racing Team, Corvette Z06.R GT3), Winner: "We already proved with our podium at the Slovakia Ring that we can keep up with the front-runners, but to achieve a win here is incredible. The Porsche piled on the pressure in the first half of the race, but I was able to control the lead. We were bunched very close together, but I was never in any danger. We´re really pleased but haven´t yet had time to take in this victory."

Luca Ludwig (#21 BKK MOBIL OIL Zakspeed, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), Second: "The race was extremely close and exciting. Positions didn´t change a great deal, though, despite everyone pushing to the limit. There was then some more confusion on the final lap as I didn´t see the chequered flag and continued to accelerate, but I´m still pleased with my P2.

Alon Day (#21 BKK MOBIL OIL Zakspeed, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), Second: "I was a bit too optimistic at the start as regards the braking point and completely missed it. I was lucky to avoid the gravel bed and even more lucky to hold on to P3. After that, I was able to keep up with the front-runners. I´m very happy with P2."

Robert Renauer (#8 TONINO Team Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), Third: "I found the right racing line at the start and moved up into P2. We were all as fast as each other in the leading group and were very evenly matched, both to the front and rear. I think we pitted a little bit too early, as we were worried about getting stuck in traffic. Ultimately, though, it probably lost me too much time and second place along with it."

Norbert Siedler (#8 TONINO Team Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), Third: "The team did a great job today and Robert was extremely strong in the initial phases of the race and moved up the field. It´s great to return like this after missing a race."

Claudia Hürtgen (#19 PIXUM Team Schubert, BMW Z4 GT3), P9: "P9 was the maximum that was possible today in view of our grid position. More was not possible. However, we´re still doing well in the title fight, where there´s a three-way battle between Audi, Porsche and us."

Markus Winkelhock (#12 Prosperia C Abt, Audi R8 LMS ultra), P8: "Today´s race was very tough. We were in contention for one lap here, but we find things very difficult in a wheel-to-wheel scrap. It´s hard to match the opposition and we are unable to attack."

Renger van der Zande (#26 HTP Motorsport, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), P7: "I would´ve liked to see a bit more action in the race. The positions were taken at the start and everyone was closely bunched. It was impossible to attack."

Andreas Wirth (#1 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), DNF: "Nico Bastian ran into my car in the Mercedes Arena. Renger van der Zande then made contact with me and I hit the tyre wall."

Toni Seiler (#18 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), Winner, Gentlemen class: "I had a bit of bad luck at the start and got the wrong racing line, allowing some opponents to execute a pincer movement on me. I didn´t want to take too many risks, because I wanted to hand over the car to Jeroen in one piece."

Jeroen Bleekemolen (#18 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P13: "I overtook some more fellow competitors in the closing stages of the race and had some great scraps. Our speed in today´s race was good. It´s a pity that after yesterday´s rain-affected quali we were not way up front in the second race, but we´ll have to see how far forward we can move tomorrow. The car´s running really well and a lot should be possible on Sunday."

Lennart Marioneck (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P16: "I´ve got some kind of bug in my system and should be in bed, not driving a car. I found the race very strenuous. Remo made a good start, laying the basis for a decent result. P2 in the Gentlemen class is okay, as there was simply no chance of a win today."

Remo Lips (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), Second, Gentlemen class: "I´m pleased that we secured P2 at the finish line. Lenny had a tough race and had a lot of opponents to his rear. I got a good start without any pressure from behind. P2 is good for my position in the Gentlemen standings."

Herbert Handlos (#7 TONINO Team Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), Third, Gentlemen class: "I had some bad luck at the start and was beset from all sides. I almost had to brake to a standstill in the Mercedes arena, which cost me lots of places. It was impossible to do better than P3 today."

Alfred Renauer (#7 TONINO Team Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P17: "Going up against the Corvette was tough. Marioneck defended his position well and fairly, and, with regard to the situation in the standings, P3 was more important than taking a big risk."
