Four teams and 22 drivers: The ADAC GT Masters has a strong presence in the ADAC Zurich 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. Nicki Thiim, René Rast and Jeroen Bleekemolen have a really gruelling marathon in front of them. After the ADAC GT Masters race at the Red Bull Ring, the three ADAC GT Masters drivers took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, now the trio are off to their second 24-hour race in seven days in the Eifel marathon. Newly crowned Le Mans class winner Thiim will be lining up for his ADAC GT Masters team Prosperia C Abt Racing. Leader in the championship standings René Rast, competing with his former ADAC GT Masters team Phoenix Racing, and last year´s winner Jeroen Bleekemolen intend to achieve their second consecutive victory in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 prepared by Black Falcon.
Fighting for the win overall at the Nürburgring are: Prosperia C Abt Racing (Audi R8 LMS ultra, with Nicki Thiim and Christer Jöns), HTP Motorsport (Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 with Maximilian Götz), ROWE RACING (Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 with Maro Engel, Jan Seyffarth and Nico Bastian) and PIXUM Team Schubert (BMW Z4 GT3 with Jens Klingmann, Dominik Baumann and Claudia Hürtgen).
Peter Kox has the best grid position at the Nürburgring. The 2010 ADAC GT Masters champion will line up in the McLaren 12C in which Kévin Estre posted a new qualifying record to secure pole position. One of Kox´s team-mate is Sebastian Asch, lining up in a sister car.
Philip Frommenwiler (Manthey Racing) and Norbert Siedler (Haribo Racing) will be in familiar vehicles, as they take the wheel in their respective Porsche 911 GT3 Rs. Max Sandritter in a BMW Z4 GT3 (Walkenhorst Motorsport) and Markus Winkelhock (Phoenix Racing) and Rahel Frey (Audi race experience) in Audi R8 LMS ultras will also field cars that they are accustomed to.
David Jahn, Fabian Hamprecht and Florian Scholze will race various Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars with less power than they are used to in the ADAC GT Masters, while Patrick Assenheimer will contest the Eifel marathon in what is to all intents and purposes a standard production Mercedes-Benz C230.
ADAC GT Masters series manager Michael Rebhan, who leads the field at the start of the ADAC GT Masters races in the Audi RS7 Lead Car is also in the ADAC Zurich 24-hour race line-up. Rebhan drives a BMW M235i and will tackle the marathon twice during the 24 hours, having started from pole position in his class.
