ADAC GT Masters·7.1.2014

Aeberhard/Jahn: joining forces in 2014 : If all goes well, we will again be fielding a Porsche

Jürg Aeberhard is very pleased with his first ADAC GT Masters season: "I would definitely like to contest the ADAC GT Masters again in 2014," said the 27-year-old Porsche specialist. The Swiss driver joined David Jahn in the Porsche 911 GT3 R prepared by Farnbacher Racing for the second half of the season and experienced his personal highlight at the season finale in Hockenheim; the two Farnbacher drivers finished seventh and eighth, achieving their first points-scoring finish at the finale thanks to Jahn's fourth place on the grid for his home race.

Aeberhard: "At the moment, we are working hard on plans for the 2014 season and are currently in discussions with various teams. Obviously, it is not easy to come up with the budget each year, but I hope that everything works out."

The Swiss driver also has his favourite combination for his second Super Sports Cars League season: to line up with David Jahn in the Porsche 911 GT3 R. "I would love to race with David again. I have learned a fantastic amount from him in the past year and have made great progress as far as improving my driving skills is concerned. If all goes well, we will again be fielding a Porsche come what may. I grew up with Porsches and have no desire to drive anything else."

David Jahn had his first real taste of the ADAC GT Masters last year after competing sporadically back in 2010. "Unfortunately, it was not possible to complete a full season in the ADAC GT Masters last year, but I kept in contact with Horst Farnbacher and the chance to drive alongside Jürg finally popped up mid-season."

Despite his lack of test kilometres in the 500bhp GT3 Porsche, the 23-year-old had no problem slotting into the 911 mid-way through the season, even though it was something of an unknown quantity to him. "I settled into the cockpit very quickly right from the start, despite the fact that the Porsche's new aerodynamics require a modicum of experience to get the last few tenths of a second out of the car. I was very excited to see where I placed. Still, we improved with every race. I then made a big splash in qualifying at Hockenheim during the last weekend of the season with a place on the second row."

After half a season together, Aeberhard and Jahn now want to benefit from experience gained during the past year and are joining forces for the ADAC GT Masters 2014 season that kicks off in the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, April 25th-27th. Jahn: "We got on well right from the start, and it would be really nice to line up together."

"I went on learning new things right up until the end of the season and achieved the goals I'd set myself last year," said Aeberhard, expressing his satisfaction with his ADAC GT Masters debut year. "So I hope that it all works out, lining up again with David Jahn. I would certainly not wish to compete in any series other than the ADAC GT Masters."
