Audi start 2014 season with best time: Van der Linde and Rast secure first fastest time of 2014 season.

Team Champions Prosperia C Abt Racing and Kelvin van der Linde/René Rast kicked off the 2014 ADAC GT Masters season with a best time in the in the Audi R8 LMS ultra. Conditions were misty for the start of first practice as the Audi drivers went to the top of the timesheet with a lap time of 1:27.390 minutes, which none of the other 25 competitors were subsequently able to beat.

Max Sandritter and Jens Klingsmann were second fastest in the BMW Z4 GT3 (PIXUM Team Schubert) with a deficit of 0.337 secs. Third place went to ADAC GT Masters runner-up Robert Renauer, lining up this year with Porsche ace Norbert Siedler in a Porsche 911 GT3 R (TONINO Team Herberth). The Porsche drivers consigned the BMW Z4 GT3 of Claudia Hürtgen/Dominik Baummann (PIXUM Team Schubert) to fourth place shortly before the end of the 60-minute session.

Maximilian Buhk and Maximilian Götz, who are starting their second season together in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 (HTP Motorsport) finished in fifth place ahead of the Porsche 911 GT3 R (GW IT Racing Team / Schütz Motorsport) driven by Christian Engelhart/Jaap van Lagen and the Audi R8 LMS ultra (Prosperia C Abt Racing) of Philip Hamprecht/Nicki Thiim. ADAC GT Masters title defender Diego Alessi posted the eighth fastest time with Patrick Assenheimer in a Corvette Z06.R GT3. 2011 amateur champion Marc A Hayek, and Peter Kox in the Lamborghini Gallardo FL2, plus Rahel Frey/Philip Geipel in the Audi R8 LMS ultra completed the Top Ten.

Heinz-Harald Frentzen in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 (HTP Motorsport) finished 20th in the first practice session along with Luca Stolz.
