The winners of the 2013 ADAC GT Masters championship, Daniel Keilwitz and Diego Alessi, got their title defence off to the best possible start. The Callaway Competition Corvette Z06.Rs, distinguished by the starting numbers 1 and 2, topped the timesheets in the first session of the official ADAC GT Masters pre-season tests at the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, which was characterised by changeable weather with sun, wind and occasional drizzle.
Daniel Keilwitz, now sharing a cockpit with new team-mates Andreas Wirth and Oliver Gavin, posted the first fastest time (1.28.774 min) of the season. Trailing by 0.525 was co-champion Diego Alessi in the second Callaway Corvette which he will be sharing with newcomer Patrick Assenheimer during the 2014 campaign.
Fabian Hamprecht and Nicki Thiim (Prosperia C Abt Racing) finished their first joint outing in an Audi R8 LMS ultra in third place ahead of the Porsche 911 GT3 R driven by Sebastian Asch and Philip Frommenwiler (Farnbacher Racing).
In his first ADAC GT Masters test session, Heinz-Harald Frentzen together with co-drivers Maximilian Buhk and Luca Stolz finished sixth in their Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 gullwing entered by HTP Motorsport behind fifth-placed Rachel Frey and Philip Geipel in a YACO Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra.
The 2½-hour morning session was brought to a halt when the red flags came out after the SaReNi Camaro GT entered by Reiter Engineering skidded off track. Due to technical problems with the Camaro, Reiter Engineering had to terminate their test involvement prematurely.
