ADAC GT Masters·6.10.2014

Comments after the ADAC GT Masters grand finale : What the drivers had to say after the last race of 2014

Daniel Keilwitz (#1 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), winner: "There is no better way to finish a season than with two successive victories, so we have every reason to feel well satisfied. I got off to a good start, and Andreas did a great job of watching my back during the first few laps, which meant we were able to draw away. This double victory at the team's home venue is the perfect way to round off the campaign. The Corvette was developed by Callaway in Hockenheim. It's marvellous that we've now been able to win here with this car for the first time, and moreover, to make it two wins out of two."

Andreas Wirth (#1 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), winner: "I had lots of confidence in the car, so I didn't get flustered on the two restarts. Two wins on home turf, that's more than anyone could wish for."

Jaap van Lagen (#3 GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), second place: "Our race on Saturday was a disaster and unfortunately cost us the chance of challenging for the championship today. We're still puzzled as to how we came to make that mistake in Saturday's race. Anyway, our focus today was on finishing as runner-up. I went on an all-out offensive from start to finish, and Christian did a good job of maintaining second place to the chequered flag. What a fantastic result! I'm ranked second in the standings this year, and hopefully I'll finish one place higher up the table at the end of next season."

Christian Engelhart (#3 GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport-Porsche 911 GT3 R), P2: "The safety car periods were good for us, otherwise I might not have been able to overtake Claudia Hürtgen's BMW. At least we were able to make sure Jaap finished as overall runner-up, and second place in the championship is most definitely a worthwhile consolation prize."

Maximilian Götz (#27 HTP Motorsport, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), P3: "We put in an error-free race and benefited in the closing stage from the spin by Seiler. Added to which, Luca snatched the third podium spot from Claudia Hürtgen. P3 in such a competitive series and on a track like this is a nice way to round off the season for Luca and me. I admit that I had higher hopes for this year, but early on, we were just firing too many blanks That's what ruled us out of contention for the title."

Luca Stolz (#27 HTP Motorsport, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), P3: "Maxi secured a good position for us. I tried to stick close to Engelhart's Porsche and to close the gap. The two safety car periods helped us to move up, but I couldn't get past him. Then I managed to overtake Claudia Hürtgen and hold on to third place."

Remo Lips (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), winner in Gentlemen class: "A race of ups and downs, with a spin at the start and a stop-and-go penalty, good overtaking manoeuvres and two safety car periods which allowed us to catch up. Ultimately, though, it's nice to end the season with a win, and I'm delighted that we have managed to finish in the Top Ten general classification for the first time."

Lennart Marioneck (#17 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), P10: "We're very pleased with this Top Ten result. I got spun round at the start but quickly managed to reconnect with the field. Remo fought valiantly in the second half of the race so that we still won the Gentlemen trophy. That came as a bit of a consolation in the end."

Herbert Handlos: (#7 TONINO Team Herberth, Porsche 911 GT3 R), second in Gentlemen class: "Today's race was a mixed bag. I made a small mistake and was a little too hasty in the pit lane, so we incurred a penalty and lost positions. But we didn't stand a chance against the Corvette anyway."

Wolf Nathan (#4 GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P3 in Gentlemen class: "It's nice to finish the season on the podium, but unfortunately we had some bad luck in the first race. However, I was very pleased with our result today. That was a nice season. It's a great series."

Anton Wossos (#4 GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P3 in Gentlemen class: "In Race 1, our car developed a mechanical fault. By contrast, we had a quiet time this afternoon. Our race pace today was not so good, but we were quite lucky - third place represents damage control. A good way to round off the season."
