Farnbacher Racing have some serious business to attend to on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th April. That´s when the Porsche specialists will be participating in the official pre-season tests at the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The Bavarian motor racing team are about to contest their fourth season in the ADAC GT Masters.
Sebastian Asch (27), who took the title in 2012, and his new co-driver Philipp Frommenwiler (24) aim to make full use of the test sessions to identify the optimum setup for the season opener. "I´m very much looking forward to the tests," says Asch. "I hope we will be setting respectable lap times and can find the perfect setup for our car." Team-mate Frommenwiler agrees: "Farnbacher are a highly professional and experienced team. I feel sure that we will be going home feeling upbeat, having set some fast times."
Meanwhile, Mario Farnbacher (21) and Nathan Morcom (22) will be focusing on clocking up the kilometres. "I am looking forward to this like it was Christmas," says Farnbacher. "You can guarantee that the season won´t be easy. This series just keeps getting more and more competitive. We´ll be using these two preliminary days to find a suitable setup and to iron out errors." Morcom, who will be driving a GT car for the first time this year, has mixed feelings: "I don´t have unrealistic expectations. The standard in the ADAC GT Masters is very high. I hope that I can learn a lot, especially from Mario. If at the end of the day I can keep up with the lap times of the others, that would be the perfect outcome."
The two driver pairings intend to extract the maximum from the two test days in their 500bhp Porsche 911s. Team Manager Dominik Farnbacher summarizes the objectives for the coming week: "What matters to us is that Mario passes on the benefit of his experience to our newcomer from Australia. Nathan needs to rack up as many kilometres as possible to feel really confident about driving this car. As regards Sebastian and Philip, it´s more a case of fine-tuning the setup we used last year. If it were to rain on at least one of the two days, that would be perfect. Then we could experiment with the new wet-weather tyres from Yokohama."
