ADAC GT Masters·2.1.2014

Fastest ADAC GT Masters qualifier of 2013 : Who outperformed the rest of the field in the eight qualifying sessions last year?

Who was the best qualifier of the 2013 ADAC GT Masters season? When all eight qualifying sessions of the recent campaign are taken into account, Dominik Baumann comes out on top. The BMW man's eight qualifying laps took a total 13:11.466 minutes, a mere 0.329 seconds less than second-fastest Maximilian Götz in a Polarweiss Racing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.

Although Baumann and co-driver Claudia Hürtgen recorded two race victories during the course of the season (Spa-Francorchamps and the Nürburgring), he will have been disappointed in the circumstances not to have claimed a single pole position. Instead, the Austrian was impressive for his consistency, starting from the front row at the Nürburgring and at the Lausitzring and booking slots on the first four rows of the grid in seven out of eight qualifying sessions.

The 2013 season was noteworthy for the even distribution of honours amongst the manufacturers, and this is also reflected in the unofficial qualifying stakes, with the Top Five of Baumann, Götz, Frank Kechele, René Rast und Daniel Keilwitz driving a BMW Z4 GT3, a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, a Ford GT GT3, an Audi R8 LMS ultra and a Corvette Z06.R GT3 respectively

While Baumann was the fastest qualifier, Frank Kechele in a Lambda Performance Ford GT secured the most pole positions, leading off on three occasions.

The above results include only those drivers who contested all eight qualifying sessions of the 2013 season.
